Joe Arpaio told AZ Republic he will decide if he is running for Senate or Sheriff in January 2012

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011

Sheriff Joe Arpaio is running short on time.

Will Joe refuse to step down as the Maricopa Co. Sheriff and be as stubborn as his friend and former Arizona State Senator Russell Pearce who was ousted in November 2011? Arpaio recently told the Arizona Republic he was considering a run for U.S. Senate but several Phoenicians believe he is full of it.

James King with the Phoenix New Times asked his readers the below question in a poll found here:

Is Arpaio really considering running for the Senate, or are his claims just to divert attention away from the loads of bad press he received last week?

Here were the results when I took the poll.

From the Examiner Washington:

Sheriff Joseph Arpaio of Maricopa County, Ariz., has seen his illegal immigration enforcement powers curtailed by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) after the Department of Justice accused him of discriminating against Latinos, but he still might run for U.S. Senate, and he has no intention of resigning as sheriff.

“When they ask if I’m going to resign I say, ‘Are you kidding?’ I’ll decide in January what office I’m running for,” Arpaio told The Arizona Republic. “I’m still interested in the (U.S.) Senate race. If I don’t run for Senate I am definitely running for sheriff. Let the people decide.”  ………..

DOJ announced last week that it had “found reasonable cause to believe that MCSO, under the leadership of Sheriff Joseph M. Arpaio, has engaged in a pattern or practice of misconduct that violates the Constitution and federal law,” including “wide-ranging discrimination against Latinos.”

Arpaio had better hurry up and think of something.  This past year we have watched other evil leaders such as Osama Bin Laden and Col. Muammar Gaddafi get ousted by help and/or force under the Obama administration.  OBL and Gaddafi  also believed they were untouchable at one time only to meet their fate later.    Gaddafi had experienced the worst fate of all when he was sodomized and later died.

Perhaps Joe Arpaio should work on a deal with the Feds and step down as Sheriff  with regard to his “pattern or practice of misconduct that violates the Constitution and federal law.”  If he doesn’t, then he may have to experience a run in with “Bubba” in jail.

If Arpaio doesn’t step down from Sheriff, Mike Stauffer will more than likely beat him anyway since Joe has mismanaged and wasted millions and millions of Arizona tax payer dollars.  We can’t continue to foot Joe’s lawsuit bills when he is allowed to violate American Civil Rights.

Arpaio is equivalent to “Bull” Connor and our Arizona Governor Jan Brewer is equivalent to Alabama’s George Wallace.  All four individuals are stains in American history and will be remembered as so.
