How the Republicans are responding to Immigration officials backing away from deportation program
Sunday, November 6th, 2011Bottom line? We don’t have the money, nor can we afford the large government idea of detaining the non-criminal element of the undocumented. I have said it all along….detain those ‘who do harm’. Not the nannies, not the garden workers and certainly not the folks who lack mens rea.

Federal immigration officials have quietly backed away from a program in Arizona and other Western states aimed at quickly and efficiently deporting illegal immigrants rather than keeping them in costly detention centers.
Tens of thousands of illegal immigrants, including thousands from Arizona, have been deported under the program over the past several years. Called stipulated removal, it allows the government to quickly deport illegal immigrants held in detention centers as long as they forgo a hearing before a judge to review their legal rights and to determine if they want to fight their case.
Here is how the GOP is pushing back on lax deportation policies, and I’m not surprised that it is coming from the likes of Senator Grassley, or Rep. Steve King, or Lamar Smith, or Sen. Rubio and you may as well throw in Mitt Romney’s unreasonable un-Mormon like stances on REASONABLE immigration.

Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa, the ranking Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, said on Thursday that the Obama administration’s immigration polices are contrary to the rule of law.
“It’s well past time that the administration come to its senses and realize that their policies are at odds with the rule of law that our country was founded on,” Grassley said. “They must wake up and change their ways before it’s too late.”
Grassely also said it was “unfortunate” that the Senate Judiciary Committee learned about the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) new policy of curbing routine checks for illegal aliens at transportation hubs along the northern border from an Associated Press news story.
