Friday was a big day for registered independent voters in Arizona [Open elections open government]

Sunday, August 19th, 2012

Just in:

Friday was a big day!  The Arizona Supreme Court issued an order declaring that the Open Elections Open Government Act is not unconstitutional and cleared the way for it to progress towards the ballot.

As Arizona counties continue to verify signatures, we should be getting results back in the next few days.  Watch for the Open Elections Open Government Initiative to continue to be in the news this upcoming week.

Expect that our opponents are not done yet and are even more committed to keeping this issue away from the voters.  They believe that Arizonan’s will overwhelmingly approve of this much needed reform to our partisan system of elections and governance, and that keeping it off the ballot is their best hope for victory.

Here is a link to the press release regarding the Supreme Court’s decision last Friday.
