We thank the Pima County Democratic Party for their Press Release, however …I am disappointed that the wording of the Pima Democratic County press release is so weak. SB 1261 and SB 1003 are some horrendous bills, but SB1003 is the worst of them since lawmakers are trying to make it a Class 5 felony for a grassroots organizer to take more than one voting ballot at any polling place. This directly affects our elderly and our disabled.

It would have been worth noting that the Democratic Party top to bottom opposes these voter suppression bills that have become a National Strategy by the Majority of the Tea Party advocates and the Republican Party. On the local level, it is discouraging this press release fails to call a spade a spade; it is a well known fact that these two pieces of legislation are focused against minority populations particularly in our state where millions of Mexican-Americans reside, yet not a word about this in this release.

As it relates to the Press Release, and according to Luis Gonzalez, the Chairman of Legislative District 3 for the Pima County Democratic party:

“It makes no mention that our own Democratic County Recorder, F. Ann Rodriguez is in support of these anti- voter initiatives. As you are aware, during our numerous meetings to begin forming a strategic plan for the Pima County Democratic party, there have been numerous calls to hold our own elected officials accountable when they went counter to the Democratic Party Core principles and ideals. Lest someone misinterpret this comment; this is not an aspersion against the Pima County Recorder as a Democratic Office holder, rather it is a clear statement on my part that there can be no argument that this is one of those times when we must stand firm, uncomfortable as it may be. The fact is that she is on the wrong side of this issue, and I address this from that perspective only.”

We must address these important issues in a manner that informs and does not protect certain Democratic Officials simply because they happen to have a “D” next to their name.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Executive Committee of the Pima County Democratic Party (PCDP) strongly opposes the passage of SB 1261 and SB 1003 in the current legislative session. Both bills represent the continuation of a long history of voter suppression in Arizona by creating unnecessary obstacles to citizens who want to exercise that most fundamental of American liberties, the right to vote. SB 1261, sponsored by Senator Michelle Reagan (R), would make it easier to purge voters from the Permanent Early Voting List (PEVL). Instead of allowing a voter to opt-out of PEVL, SB 1261 permits the automatic removal of a voter that fails to vote in two consecutive federal election cycles. She even added a last-minute amendment that would make the bill retroactive to 2010. By failing to engage stakeholders from their communities, Sen. Reagan and her backers created SB 1261 in a vacuum, with more attention to cutting voter lists than to ensuring maximum participation in elections. The Permanent Early Voting List has been a useful tool to help new voters participate in the democratic process.

SB 1003, another Reagan-sponsored bill, directly infringes on the efforts of thousands of neighbors and community organizers who help voters, including the disabled and elderly, vote by returning their completed early ballot for them. Don Jorgensen, Chair of the PCDP, said “In the 2012 election we saw long lines at the polls and confusion regarding provisional ballots and early ballots. Both Republican and Democratic members of the legislature should work together in a transparent way to find real solutions that encourage voter participation by all Arizonans. Instead, we have two bills that not only suppress voter inclusion, but also include unnecessary criminal penalties. It is unbelievable that an Arizona citizen could be charged with a felony for helping a fellow citizen to vote. These problems are better solved by voter education, not voter suppression.”

Nebraska Governor Heineman is attacking baby and prenatal care again, but this time he is threatening to opposes lawmaker pay raise.

Here’s the story:

Heineman opposes lawmaker pay raise because of veto override

Will lawmakers choose the protection of life and compassionate acts? Or will the the Nebraska lawmakers choose money?

Time will tell, and we will record who stands on the right side of American history as it relates to the treatment of fellow man. Either you believe all men were created equal or you don’t.

A little background on a previous story we wrote about the Nebraska Governor:

Gov. Dave Heineman is no Christian Compassionate person as he bullies women and children again. Emulates Arizona Governor.

I’ve known for some time that the Republican Party has been corrupted with bigotry via FAIR and the John Tanton network. The Tanton network has certain states within their sites and control, and now Nebraska is on their radar.

The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) is an anti-immigration ‘movement,’ that began by one man, John Tanton. Tanton was the organizer and President of the Northern Michigan Planned Parenthood Association between 1965-1971, and in 1975 he wrote The Case for Passive Eugenics where his letters and memos are a public collection at the Bentley Historical Library. Tanton has clear connections to Pioneer Fund and Numbers USA where Pioneer Fund’s eugenic ideas (selective breeding of humans) supported a variety of institutions that legitimize race “science”, including the journal Mankind Quarterly, which today is published by long-time eugenicist, anti-Semite and Pioneer grant recipient Roger Pearson.

There are Republicans who claim to be pro life but are not. For those who don’t know about John Tanton, he is anti-semitic, anti-immigrant and anti-everything. The Republican Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman is at it again with attacking women and children again. This is the same so called “pro lifer” who

tried to attack birth right citizenship under the 14th Amendment of our Constitution of the United States via NE LB 599.

State can restore prenatal care to undocumented moms

Now he is at it again.

The Nebraska Governor not only will be bullying Deferred Action (DACA) beneficiaries but also VAWA (women victims of domestic abuse) beneficiaries with his recent proclamation in denying driver licenses to some Nebraska residents. FULL STORY HERE>>>

All along my gut has told me to support Mike Stauffer for sheriff due to Paul Penzone’s alleged wife beating record.

Here is another reason why Penzone should be doubted.

Here is how Mike Stauffer is going to win the Maricopa County Sheriff race (see image below).

DONATE TO MIKE STAUFFER TODAY! I received a call from a man in Oregon who told me Arpaio sent him a letter to solicity funds, but the Oregon man called me and asked how he could be directed to contribute to Mike Stauffer’s campaign.

COOLNESS!

the National Tequila Party Movement. And, I finally get to meet him on September 19th, 2012! What luck!

An official communications piece will be sent soon, but here is a teaser.

DATE: September 19, 2012

TIME: 7:45 a.m.

PLACE: 910 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Las Vegas, Nevada (Dona Maria Mexican Restaurant Downtown)

COST: $12.00 per adult / $5.00 for Students

More details to come, and for more background information why I am excited to meet Fernando Romero is in the below Las Vegas Sun story. The story is old, because since then, I left the Republican Party for good and became a registered independent voter. There is a rise in independent voters, and it’s no wonder when you have the Republican Party who has become so “last generation.”

What started as a casual conversation among frustrated local Hispanic activists has blossomed into a national movement.

A Mexican-American political activist from Arizona on Thursday launched the National Tequila Party Movement. The kickoff began in Phoenix, ground zero for the immigration debate.

First proposed by Fernando Romero, president of the nonpartisan Nevada group Hispanics in Politics, the Tequila Party will work to encourage Latinos to vote and run for political office. Organizers will plan concerts, dinners and rallies, including in Las Vegas, to try to incite Hispanic political activism.

In 2008, Pope Benedict XVI had a message sent from on high to the world’s financial and political elite where the Roman Catholic Church is calling for the effective closure of secretive tax havens as a ‘necessary first step’ to restore the global economy to health.

According to the Guarding UK:

In a policy paper from the Holy See, Pope Benedict pins the blame for the international financial crisis largely on ‘offshore centres’, many of which, such as the Channel Islands, are British dependencies.

‘They have given support to imprudent economic and financial practices and have also played a significant role in the imbalances of development, allowing a gigantic flight of capital linked to tax evasion,’ says the report. ‘Offshore markets could also be linked to the recycling of profits from illegal activities.’

The Pope points to estimates that the global fiscal deficit caused by offshore activities could amount to a staggering $255bn (£175bn) which is ‘more than three times the entire sum of [global] development aid’.

It sounds like Romney is doing the best he can to hide from being transparent, yet, he cannot earn the public trust without first being transparent. President Obama has already released his tax returns, and Americans believe that Romney has a lot to hide.

Me thinks it has everything to do with offshore centres and tax havens the Roman Catholic Church has identified.

Smashing Pumpkins eloquently wrote: “Today is the greatest day I’ve ever known…”

Today is DAY ONE for DREAMErs (DREAM Act youth and children) that may apply for Deferred Action under these guidelines.

What does this translate to?

It equates to approximately 1.7 million acts of compassion offered to our youth.

According to the BLOOMBERG, “President Barack Obama’s move to stop deportations of many undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. as children may benefit as many as 1.7 million people age 30 and under, according to estimates from the Pew Hispanic Center.”

First we thank our Creator for allowing love and compassion to dominate, but we also want to thank President Obama, because we know this was not

Life is useless without love and compassion to fellow man and human beings.

easy to do within his first term as President of the United States. Both Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush did not address immigration until their second term as President, and to this day we see Tea Party Republicans who loathe Reagan’s amnesty.

Make no mistake, there is still plenty of work as we work towards a humane legal immigration system that everybody agrees is broken. Indeed we do need to fix the broken immigration system and create a legal avenue, however, bigotry is stopping those efforts. In addition to the bigotry, we see misguided undocumented individuals protesting pro-DREAM Act Democratic Senators like Bill Nelson. In my view, DREAMers ought to be protesting those who are on the record of not supporting the DREAM, and while many of the undocumented are unable to vote, those of us who were born in the United States and are eligible to vote will support those compassionate Senators in droves.

POLITICS 101 states:

1. We don’t attack allies.

2. In a representative democracy you have to change the minds of the population because the representative is gonna be taken out if you don’t change the minds of the population or the people (public perception) within that district. If we don’t change the population mind….we are never gonna win anything. It is fruitless to attack our allies. You attack the positions of the opposition.

Now … make no mistake … you are going to hear a different tune played by the obstructionist Tea Party people as they would rather choose to rule with the iron fist. Ironically enough, these same Tea Party people who ‘claim’ to be for small government are in support of millions and millions of dollars in foreign aid and war. In addition to the cool Billion$ we give in foreign aid, we see Republican Mitt Romney wanting to spike our defense spending by $2.1 trillion. According to CNN Money, “….compared to the Pentagon’s current budget, Romney’s plan would lead to $2.1 trillion in additional spending over the next ten years, according to an analysis conducted by Travis Sharp, a budget expert at the Center for a New American Security.”

Now let’s imagine for a moment a situation where there are no starving children in our own country?

Why are people hurting in our own country? Why do we see the hungry in our land of the free?

Shouldn’t we harness those taxpayer dollars, tell the foreign countries that we need to pause in giving them financial aid for at least a year until we get ourselves out of the rut?

What about the military defense budget? Republicans love war even though they claim to be Christian compassionate types, but why can’t we slash the military defense budget for at least one year? Aircraft fuel and bombs are expensive so why can’t we put that on hold until we help ourselves out for a year?

War mongering doesn’t make sense right now.

The Tea Party Republicans and the war mongers who don’t want to help our elderly and our own here in the United States have blood on their teeth and would rather spend billions of dollars and trillions in war than to help our own.

In my view there should never be ONE child living in the United States that should go to bed hungry.

Imagine for a moment the trillion$ we spend on war and foreign aid and applying that money to Americans for a year.

Do the math.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are approximately 311,591,917 people living in the United States and with the trillions we spend in foreign aid combined with war, imagine a lot of relief that would be given to our own here in the United States.

The Sensenbrenner Bill of 05 would have turned ministers, priests and people of God who helped the undocumented into felons. Here is a summary of the bill from the Civil Rights Monitor:

After months of intense debate, the Border Protection, Antiterrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act (H.R. 4437) passed the House of Representatives by a margin of 239-182. Sponsored by Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner, R-Wisc., the act purportedly aimed to combat undocumented immigration in the U.S. However, civil rights groups

argue that many of the act’s provisions will curtail fundamental human and civil rights, resulting in adverse effects for both immigrants and citizens alike.

Among other things, H.R. 4437 would create a 700-mile fence along the U.S.-Mexico border; eliminate the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program (whose recipients are mostly from Africa); increase the penalties for employing undocumented immigrants; and make it a felony to house undocumented immigrants, with a punishment of no less than three years in prison plus fines.

H.R. 4437 also makes any unlawful presence in the U.S. – even a visa overstay – a felony, and expands the government’s ability to lock up indefinitely immigrants who cannot be deported. These provisions especially incurred the criticism of the civil rights community, who called the act “harsh and unfair.”

Wade Henderson, president and CEO of the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights (LCCR), said, “While we need to have a comprehensive approach to reforming our nation’s broken immigration system, this deeply flawed bill attempts to criminalize undocumented immigrants without providing any safe, legal alternatives for people who simply want to share in the American Dream.”

Many organizations, such as American Civil Liberties Union, the National Council of La Raza, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce also expressed similar sentiments on H.R. 4437.

LCCR also pointed out that H.R. 4437 bears many similarities with the immigration reform laws enacted in 1996. A report done in 2004 by the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights Education Fund, in partnership with the American Bar Association, criticized the 1996 laws for creating a “two-tier system of justice that singles out one segment of society for less favorable treatment.”
