It doesn’t make sense to increase the war / defense budget by $2.1 trilllion dollars — especially when our military did not ask for the increase to begin with. It is time to focus on Homeland issues, and Romney is on the record for wanting to increase the Defense War budget by $2.1 trillion dollarseven though our military didn’t ask for it.

That said, how is Mitt Romney going to explain his wanting to increase the defense war budget by $2.1 trillion, but on the other hand, can’t find it in his heart to keep FEMA going? He want to privatize it when he knows darn well that these Wall Street ‘fat cats’ are responsible for the Housing crash that helped spiral our U.S. economy into a recession during the Bush years.

Bottom line?

If we have $2.1 trillion to fund wars, we sure as hell should have money to fund hurting Americans here in our Homeland. Protecting what is here at home is part of the national security agenda.

From the WAPOST:

Hurricane Sandy’s battering of the East Coast is expected to produce historic rainfall totals, billions of dollars in damage and wholesale disruptions to the close presidential race. The storm could also provide a moment of sharp contrast between President Obama and Mitt Romney and how their different ideas of governing apply to the federal response to large-scale disasters.

Obama has been aggressive about bolstering the federal government’s capability to respond to disasters, while his Republican challenger believes states should be the primary responders in these situations and has suggested that disaster response could be privatized.

Watch: Romney Proposes Gutting or Privatizing FEMA, Leaving Disaster Relief to States

Update, October 29, 12:29 a.m. EST: With Hurricane Sandy set to make landfall in the Mid-Atlantic, Mitt Romney’s policies for federal emergency management seem as relevant as ever. And the candidate’s budget, as described below, isn’t the only indication Romney would slash funding: As the Huffington Post‘s Ryan Grim noted, the presidential candidate suggested during a GOP primary debate that he would diminish the agency’s role and leave responsibility for helping imperiled Americans to the states:

Here is the transcript:

Here’s a transcript of the snip.

KING: What else, Governor Romney? You’ve been a chief executive of a state. I was just in Joplin, Missouri. I’ve been in Mississippi and Louisiana and Tennessee and other communities dealing with whether it’s the tornadoes, the flooding, and worse. FEMA is about to run out of money, and there are some people who say do it on a case-by-case basis and some people who say, you know, maybe we’re learning a lesson here that the states should take on more of this role. How do you deal with something like that?ROMNEY: Absolutely. Every time you have an occasion to take something from the federal government and send it back to the states, that’s the right direction. And if you can go even further and send it back to the private sector, that’s even better.

Instead of thinking in the federal budget, what we should cut—we should ask ourselves the opposite question. What should we keep? We should take all of what we’re doing at the federal level and say, what are the things we’re doing that we don’t have to do? And those things we’ve got to stop doing, because we’re borrowing $1.6 trillion more this year than we’re taking in. We cannot…

KING: Including disaster relief, though?

ROMNEY: We cannot—we cannot afford to do those things without jeopardizing the future for our kids. It is simply immoral, in my view, for us to continue to rack up larger and larger debts and pass them on to our kids, knowing full well that we’ll all be dead and gone before it’s paid off. It makes no sense at all. [emphasis added]

Governor Deval Patrick said today that voters in the presidential race should take note of polls showing Republican nominee Mitt Romney trailing far behind President Obama in Massachusetts, the state where he both lives and once served as governor, because it should tell them something.

“He’s a resident of Massachusetts. He will vote in Massachusetts. He governed in Massachusetts. We elected him – and he is trailing 20 to 25 points. What does that tell you?” Patrick said during his monthly appearance on WTKK-FM.

“It tells you that we know him, and, ‘No, thank-you.’ We’ve seen this movie before, and we’re not going to do it again.”

Patrick said Romney’s lone accomplishment while he led Massachusetts – “his only experience as a public executive” – was passing a universal health care law that served as the model for a federal law enacted by Obama, yet the former governor now wants to repeal it.

“I think we know a leader with a core when we see it, and we see that in Barack Obama, and I think we know a leader without a core when we see it, and I think we’ve seen that in Governor Romney,” said Patrick.

In watching the final debate regarding foreign policy, I watched Mitt Romney confuse Iran with Iraq, trip over his words and bring up old ideas. We are living in the new millennium and one cannot trust a man who is out of touch with Americans (let alone military members). Indeed, Mitt was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, later dodged the draft, and has reversed his position on every political issue in America.

On a side note: How can military morale be boosted knowing that Romney dodged the Vietnam War draft to begin with?

President Barack Obama sparked an onslaught of social networking when he referenced “horses and bayonets” in Monday night’s third and final presidential debate. “Well, Governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets, because the nature of our military has changed,” Obama said, after Gov. Mitt Romney jabbed the president for, he said, overseeing a Navy that is smaller than at any time since 1917.

Roger Simon of POLITICO had a wonderful opinion that pretty much nails how I feel. I especially enjoyed the “horses and bayonets” comment President Obama replied with when Romney tried to discuss old ideas ranging from the 1917′s to the 1980′s. These debates tend to get monotonous from time to time and the audience needs to liven up every now and then when discussing such serious matters.

Simon wrote:

In presidential debate, President Obama takes Mitt Romney to school

“Obama chose a good evening to be good. Having learned his lesson in Denver, having sharpened his skills at the second debate in Hempstead, N.Y., Obama unloaded on Romney in Boca Raton with a prepared theme: “Wrong and reckless.”

“I know you have not been in a position to execute foreign policy,” Obama said snidely to Romney. “But (yours) is wrong and reckless leadership that is all over the map. It is not a recipe for American strength or keeping America safe.”

And what could possibly be worse than being wrong and reckless with American lives?

Being like George W. Bush and Dick Cheney!

…. And Obama’s prepared lines had a boom-lowering quality to them. Romney has frequently complained that our Navy has fewer ships now than in our past.

“We also have fewer horses and bayonets,” Obama mocked, pointing out that time moves on and presidents must do more than play giant games of “Battleship.”

Was the evening enough to be, in the now-favorite term of the press, a “game changer”?

Perhaps. Perhaps not. But Schieffer ended the debate by quoting his mother. “Go vote. It makes you feel big and strong.”

Hell hath officially frozen over.

We just learnt the Salt Lake City Tribune has endorsed President Obama over Mitt Romney. I really thought they would endorse Mitt Romney since Romney is a die hard Mormon and Salt Lake City is in essence the mecca of Mormonism.

This is excellent news! Kudos to the SLC Tribune. We called it several months ago and knew that Mitt Romney committed political suicide when he received an endorsement from Kris Kobach — a Tea Party extremist and a heartless advisor who is hostile towards Latinos. Kris Kobach and Romney helps undo what the UTAH COMPACT stands for.

We are still waiting to see if any major Catholic Newspapers or the local Arizona Catholic diocese will condemn Sheriff Joe Arpaio since Arpaio is a member of the Catholic Church and while taking a look at Independent Candidate Mike Stauffer for Maricopa County Sheriff).

**Mike Stauffer supported the Utah Compact and is a good Catholic who has no domestic violence background in his history.

Indeed Mitt Romney has reversed his positions too many times.

He is out of touch with the average American voter.

Case closed.

Now that Mitt Romney has reversed his position again on the pro life / abortion issue, I would like to know what the National Right to Life has to say about his reversal.

We have coined a new term for Multiple Choice Mitt and the new name is “Romney’s Reversal” as the etch-a-sketch politician tries to spruce up his populism points.

Fact is, smart women will not trust the charlatan politician. At least women know what they are gonna get with President Obama — but now Romney is desperate to garner populism points the way he tried when he ran against Senator John McCain. Romney’s reversals are a failed strategy. He lost against McCain, and he’ll lose again with Obama because he simply cannot be trusted with the average ordinary American.

From the WAPOST:

“There’s no legislation with regards to abortion that I’m familiar with that would become part of my agenda,” Romney told the paper’s editorial board. “One thing I would change however which would be done by executive order and not by legislation is that I would reinstate the Mexico City policy which is that foreign aid dollars from the United States would not be used to carry out abortion in other countries.”

Later, Romney, who spent the day in Ohio, appeared to back away from his remarks, saying: “I think I’ve said time and again that I’m a pro-life candidate and I’ll be a pro-life president.”

More importantly, how do Ohio Pro Life voters feel about Romney profiting from abortions?

Romney Invested in Medical-Waste Firm That Disposed of Aborted Fetuses, Government Documents Show

“…Here’s what happened with Stericycle. In November 1999, Bain Capital and Madison Dearborn Partners, a Chicago-based private equity firm, filed with the SEC a Schedule 13D, which lists owners of publicly traded companies, noting that they had jointly purchased $75 million worth of shares in Stericycle, a fast-growing player in the medical-waste industry. (That April, Stericycle had announced plans to buy the medical-waste businesses of Browning Ferris Industries and Allied Waste Industries.) The SEC filing lists assorted Bain-related entities that were part of the deal, including Bain Capital (BCI), Bain Capital Partners VI (BCP VI), Sankaty High Yield Asset Investors (a Bermuda-based Bain affiliate), and Brookside Capital Investors (a Bain offshoot). And it notes that Romney was the “sole shareholder, Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of BCI, BCP VI Inc., Brookside Inc. and Sankaty Ltd….”

Did you folks read the latest POLITICO headlines regarding our Senator John McCain?

McCain fires back at Obama on immigration

McCain is at it again with his toeing the Party line tactics, but facts are stubborn things.

McCain is trying to solely blame Obama when he knew damn well “Mr. George W. Bush placed telephone calls to lawmakers throughout the morning of the immigration vote, but members of his own Republican party abandoned him in droves, with only 12 of the 49 Senate Republicans sticking by him on the key procedural vote that determined the bill’s fate. ”

That said, this is simply McCain’s attempt at politicizing the issue to garner more Latino votes on behalf of Romney — but it ain’t gonna happen unless the GOP does away with their anti-immigrant platform they adopted recently.

Fast Forward … McCain lost his Latino street credibility when he voted against the DREAM Act of December 2010. Romney promised to VETO the DREAM Act. They are all the same and the bottom line is to look back at history on why American Presidents were reluctant to address immigration within their first term.

Who should Latinos gamble their voting chips into?

They should invest their vote into an incoming 2nd term President. Ronald Reagan didn’t address immigration until his second term, George W. Bush didn’t address immigration until his 2nd term either. In fact, W didn’t think there was a problem with immigration at all when he was running as POTUS the first time.

The only President in American history who addressed immigration within his first term was Pres. Benjamin Harrison when he supported Ellis Island, and he did not get re-elected into a second term and this occurred well over a century ago. Now President Obama gets to go down in American history as a President who gave relief to DREAM Act students within his first term despite the fact that it was unpopular to be immigrant friendly during a fevered pitch anti-immigrant era.

My Independent and Latina vote is in Obama this year. Not necessarily because he is a Democrat, but because the GOP has adopted an anti-immigrant policy that emulates Arizona’s harsh SB 1070 views. The Republican Party has been thoroughly hijacked by the Dixiecrats and protectionists, while most Democrats are now toeing the Party line in support of the DREAM Act and immigration. Both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party have witnessed a surge in independent voters, and now the Dems have to work harder at retaining the vote of the fastest growing demographic in the country when Obama gets re-elected.

Republicans like Senator John McCain continue to insult the intelligence of Latinos as they try to rewrite history. I suppose McCain forgot about this circulated mass mailer below when Romney and McCain were fighting it out during the Republican Presidential primaries of 2008. I watched Mitt Romney systematically move Senator John McCain far to the right on matters affecting immigration during the 2008 GOP Presidential Republican primaries. If it had not been for Mitt Romney, Latinos may have felt more comfortable in voting for John McCain over President Obama. I attribute the loss of the McCain Hispanic vote to multiple-choiceMitt Romney.

McCain has been in the Senate too long, and his forgetfulness is causing me to be a strong believer in term limits. Besides, McCain is no longer an amigo when he decided to vote against the DREAM Act of 2010.

Did you catch this?

As we continue to analyze the Mother Jones video of Mitt Romney speaking at a private fundrai$er to top elites, we want to hone in on when he stated:

”….we’re having a much harder time with Hispanic voters. And if the Hispanic voting bloc becomes as committed to the Democrats as the African American voting bloc has in the past, why we’re in trouble as a party and, I think, as a nation.”

Why does Romney believe that an increase in the Latino voting block would spell trouble for our Nation?

Did Romney forget Latinos are patriotic, and more importantly did he forget the contributions we made to this great Nation?

Then of course, what would you expect from Romney when he dodged the draft 4 different times?

What basis does Romney have to believe voting Latinos would spell trouble for our Nation when we have a strong history of defending Her?

When is Mitt Romney and the GOP going to figure out that you cannot win the hearts of Latinos by demonizing us?

Throughout my Air Force career, I met many citizens and noncitizens as I worked and trained with Marines, Army, Navy, and civil authorities. I had the opportunity to serve with fellow Latino soldiers who came from other countries, who told me they joined the United States military so they could work toward American citizenship. Naturally, this made quite an impression on me to see others risking their lives to become Americans.

I do not believe the mainstream media does an adequate job in portraying Hispanic patriotism. In fact, living in Arizona, I often see Hispanic people being demonized and portrayed in a negative light by isolationists.

Hispanic patriots have fought for the United States since the American Revolution. Many Hispanics served as “rough riders” with Teddy Roosevelt and were recognized for their patriotism under the former president.

During World War I, approximately one third of the U.S. population was recent immigrants; the United States implemented a draft for the war effort. Ten years after the war, the economy slowed down and the U.S. adopted a repressive anti-immigration policy against “Mexicans,” using mass deportation roundups and repatriation that forced many established Hispanics out of their homes and separated families. These events occurred during the economic depression of 1929–1939 in a backlash to create jobs for European Americans. Thus, they deprived Hispanics of their public– and private-sector jobs and ignored many past contributions to the military and our nation. Similarly, social and economic strains were evident in 1953–1954 as sweeps from “Operation Wetback” deported 1,874,431 illegal Mexicans.

Although it seems that the media does not do enough to portray patriotic Latinos and their contributions to American wars, let us not be dismayed. Instead, let us all remember great leaders in American history, and create a culture of unity. We must take on the mantle from Latino Veteran leaders such as Dr. Hector P. Garcia as we continue to see “Operation Wetback” programs rear it’s ugly head in the form of SB 1070.

We must fight the good fight in countering the people who demonize Latinos, and we do it by reminding the public of Latino Veteran contributions to our country. We counter isolationists by reminding the public of the economic contributions given by Hispanics, but most importantly, we remind the public that “All Men Are Created Equal”.

We must help our fellow brothers and sisters by getting them to be more politically involved. We must take control of our own destinies and change what we can change while praying to our Creator for the things beyond our control.

Why not refer to DREAM Act youth as DREAMers? This proves how out of touch Mitt Romney is with regard to our community and the 47% of Americans in general.

Via Twitter: “Summary of Mitt Romney @univision interview: Mitt says nothing new on immigration but does call Dreamers “illegal aliens.”

In contrast, the crowd of around 750 didn’t seem to object, and in fact cheered for the candidate. Reporters were quick to point out that student tickets to the event were distributed by student Republican organizations. (The school’s Young Democrats were given tickets to distribute for President Obama’s appearance, which will happen Thursday.)

All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax.Romney went on: “[M]y job is is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”

Wow.

Just wow.

Romney has proved what a heartless silver-spoon fed individual he is. And he wants to lead Americans and this Country?!

Who needs Mr. Bain Capital at the height of crony capitalism that is destroying our economy?

Dear Mitt Romney,

I am not dependent upon government, nor am I on welfare … yet I am supporting Obama. I am also an Independent voter, and supporting Obama does not mean one is on welfare or dependent on government. You have a lot of audacity considering your family became rich suing Mexico after using it as a safe Haven and receiving help from Congress once your family left Mexico in light of the Mexican Revolution.

How dare you insert your tasteless and heartless true colors into your campaign when you would rather increase the war budget while damning the poor. In addition to the cool Billion$ we give in foreign aid, we see you wanting to spike our defense spending by $2.1 trillion. There is something terribly sick and wrong about the money we waste bombing other countries instead of investing more of it at home.

Just when you thought Mitt Romney couldn’t insert his foot in his mouth any further….

Mitt Romney cracks Latino joke to 1% and will suffer Latino voter backlash come November 6, 2012.

Mitt Romney has a lot of audacity considering his family became rich suing Mexico after they used it as a safe haven when they were fleeing polygamy laws. Indeed, suing Mexico after using it as a safe haven put the Romney family on solid financial footing.

In addition to the hypocrisy of the Romney family…..did you know they received a government handout from Congress, too, once the Romney family left Mexico in light of the Mexican Revolution? Indeed it is correct to say that the U.S. Government bailed out the Romney family in their time of need when Congress voted $100,000 for Mormon transportation and relief (which calculates to approximately 2.5 million dollars today). Yet, this is strange to hear considering Mitt Romney saying he was not concerned with the very poor.

Abusador is a word Mexican-Americans are using to describe Mitt Romney, because we see a pattern of abuse that ranges from Bain Capital to the very poor and voiceless.

See a pattern here?

The Romney flees when the going gets tough.

See this disgusting video that has Latinos in an uproar.
