The “illegals” who will make or break the Presidency

Many of the key Presidential swing states have a high population of Mexican-Americans — specifically in the Southwest and Midwestern states like Illinois.
We are currently living in an era where Republican Texas Congressman Lamar Smith is blocking legal immigration reform and spreading myths with regard to President Obama. In fact, Lamar Smith falsely states that Obama is for amnesty even though the Obama administration has deported more immigrants than George W. Bush.
Nobody wants amnesty. Cubans get amnesty under the Cuban Adjustment Act. Mexican-Americans simply want legal immigration reform.
What should the Mexican-Americans ask for in order to push for legal immigration? The Mexican Adjustment Act?
2012 will be a crucial year which Latinos will hold anti-immigration politicians accountable. Indeed emphasis needs to be concentrated in the Southwest, the Midwest (where several Mexican agricultural workers reside) and more.

There are an estimated 12 million illegal migrants living in America. Most of them have at least one family member who was born here and is thus a full US citizens. The economy couldn’t function without them, even during hard economic times and yet America’s immigration laws can’t keep pace with the numbers. It has ever been thus.
