National Latino Immigration Rights Activists Reject DreamActivist.org / NIYA Views to Bring Back All 1.7 Million Deported Immigrants — Groups Chase Unreasonable Pipeline Dreams
Phoenix, AZ — Somos Independents is a national group of registered Independent voters led by Mexican-American women who support bipartisanship in our government that will help solve tough issues. We know the immigration issue is a federal matter and we rely on our Congress to fix the broken immigration system soon with legal immigration reform. We are the counter movement to unreasonable and fringe groups like the Tea Party and DreamActivist / NIYA. Unfortunately, we have to reject DreamActivist.org, NIYA, and Mohammad Abdollahi (Iranian radical immigrant) for vowing to bring back all 1.7 million deported immigrants.
This is unreasonable since approximately half of those deported have a “real criminal” element in their background. We do not support bringing back dangerous criminals with a dangerous criminal background and we will not allow an Iranian immigrant radical to appear he has agency to speak on behalf of the Mexican American community. Mohammad has been soliciting thousands of dollars in the name of “legal coyote” work and when we reported their group to the FBI, they told us there was no such thing as “legal coyote” work and suspected a financial scam and spreading misinformation. Indicating you are in the business of “legal coyote” work takes advantage of the desperate, undereducated immigrant Mexican minors and we reject this type of exploitation.
More importantly, Mohammad Abdollahi and Prerna Lal (founders of the DreamActivist) are on the record for not supporting comprehensive immigration reform (CIR) in 2013. In fact, Mohammad wants to “kill CIR.” Both of these founders supported Republican President Mitt Romney in 2012, where we recently discovered one of their lawyers David Bennion has family ties to the Mitt Romney family. David Bennion who is guiding these groups led by an Iranian and Fijian immigrant has been one of Obama’s most vocal critics regarding immigration, but was not as vocal against Mitt Romney’s self-deportation views and receiving advice from Kris Kobach (who is the legal architect behind many of these anti-immigrant laws). We believe Bennion was not objective and as vocal against Mitt Romney because of family ties. That said, we see Mohammad and Prerna repeating similar anti-Obama and anti-Democrat talking points. More importantly, David Bennion supports unreasonable open border views and he should not support chasing pipeline dreams knowing full well the Republican-led House of Representatives will not stand for this.
DreamActivist.org / NIYA are protesting Democratic politicians who are already on record for supporting immigration reform and this confirms our suspicions they are being guided by an evil agenda. We believe the politicians who ought to be protested are the extremist Tea Party obstructionists — not politicians who are already on record for supporting legal immigration reform.
It is naïve for David Bennion, Mohammad Abdollahi, and Prerna Lal of DreamActivist and/or NIYA to put the blame squarely on the Obama administration, when ICE Union leader, Chris Crane is undermining Presidential directives regarding immigration and has a record to ignore the President’s enforcement priorities. The ICE union, representing a minority of ICE agents, issued a vote of no confidence in Former Director Morton a couple of years ago. They also opposed DACA, and even sued in Texas to block DACA with Kris Kobach as their lawyer. The lawsuit went down in flames.
On the other hand, David Leopold, General Counsel and Past President of American Immigration Lawyers Association states: “This isn’t the first time Crane has played fast and loose with the facts in an effort to undercut the administration. Last year he openly deplored ICE Director John Morton’s prosecutorial discretion policy which, frankly, empowered ICE agents to focus their efforts on arresting and removing dangerous criminal aliens in an effort to keep America safer.”We encourage the DOJ, DHS and the FBI to investigate groups led by Mohammad Abdollahi and Prerna Lal and who are receiving help and guidance by David Bennion. Their efforts are harming the Mexican and Mexican American community.
