Song made in tribute of Joaquin Luna

Friday, March 30th, 2012

Joaquin Luna’s family contacted me and wanted me to share this video of Joaquin Luna with you.  It is very beautiful.  They enjoy the song that was made in tribute to Joaquin very much and they wish to share their thanks to the author of this beautiful song. The song is heart-wrenching and you can tell the artist read Joaquin Luna’s suicide letter

Univision: Obama’s team eyes Arizona’s Latino voters

Friday, March 23rd, 2012

I am no longer President of SOMOS REPUBLICANS, I left the Republican Party and stepped down from SOMOS REPUBLICANS due to the Republican hostility against my people,  and am now an Independent voter in Arizona.  Hispanic Republicans have been marginalized and I discovered that the real political power is behind a non-partisan movement that combines Democrats, Independents, Libertarians and Republicans within  the National Tequila Party Movement (Tequila Party is a Latina-led counter movement to the Tea Party militia men, birthers, nativists and extremists).  Why focus on just Latino Republicans (which have been marginalized anyway) when we can find common ground via the DREAM Act and immigration among Latinos across a broader political spectrum?

I’m  in UNIVISION news regarding President Obama and the Arizona vote, but let me be clear on what was not clarified….

It wasn’t clarified on what it MIGHT take for me (as an individual) to vote for Obama, and I MIGHT be enthused IF Obama takes a stronger lead on the DREAM Act/Immigration issues BEFORE November 2012 (who knows I just may write in Ronald Reagan or JFK), that said, I realize that Latinos need to get out and vote in droves and offer political covering and political courage to immigrant-friendly politicians in places like Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada, California, Texas, Illinois, New York, Florida and the like.

I cannot just hand my vote too easily….these politicians need to work HARD for the Independent vote.   Somos is currently led by registered Republican voters who can still handle the hostility within the GOP, and I feel liberated as an Independent voter.  I know Democrats will vote Democratic, and I know Republicans will primarily vote Republican; however, I am hearing from Hispanic Evangelical leaders and reverends that they will vote for Obama if Newt Gingrich is not the Republican nominee.

From Univision, below and entire story can be read here:

And even though Latino registrations spiked by 200,000 between 2009 and 2010, Democrats saw an overall 6.2 percent dip in voter registrations between 2008 and 2012, only to be surpassed by independents as the second-largest voter group in the state.

During an Arizona Republican primary debate last month, Romney … endorsed by Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, who helped author Arizona’s SB 1070 immigration crackdown law.

DeeDee Blase Garcia, founder of the Hispanic group Somos Republicans [now with Tequila Party Movement], an Arizona-based group Latino GOP group, stepped down as the organization’s president because she got tired of the party’s tough immigration views. In an interview she said she might vote for Obama in 2012.  FULL STORY.

Arizona-based Tequila Party Movement Rocks the Latino Vote in Indiana to promote the DREAM Act

Friday, March 16th, 2012

There are so called “arm chair revolutionaries” that consist of people who would rather type than actually participate in voter registration drives, but we are not “arm chair” people.  We are Get Out the Latino Vote Revolutionists. It’s a lot of work creating events to encourage Latinos to vote but the National Tequila Party Movement (based out of Arizona/Immigration Ground Zero) is determined to motivate Latinos to vote in droves for the upcoming 2012 elections. Our next stop? Indiana.

We will tell all Latinos to vote in the upcoming open primaries.

To help register eligible Latinos to vote, please contact info@nationaltequilapartymovement.com.  Thanks!

Indiana Tequila Party Rally to Rock the Latino Vote

For Immediate Release
Indiana Leader:  Jose Alvarez:
Eduardo Alvarez
574-304-2103
16 March 2012
info@nationaltequilapartymovement.com

Phoenix, AZ –The National Tequila Party is a female led movement to get out the Latino vote and we are happy to announce our Tequila Party rally this upcoming Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 5:00 pm at Indiana University South Bend in the Grille.   Free food and reception begins at 5:00 pm. We will have free live Latin entertainment at our event via Guero Loco who wrote and sings about why we should support the DREAM Act.  Future rallies are being planned across the nation targeting more high Latino populated states as we rock the Latino vote.  We believe eligible voting Latinos have a responsibility to be a voice for the voiceless undocumented via our vote.

The Tequila Party movement will never forget the death and memory of Joaquin Luna, a young teen DREAMer who took his life in Texas because he felt he had no hope.  We want eligible voting Latinos to empower themselves and get motivated for the upcoming election cycle. We are for DREAM Act revitalization.  We will have DREAM Act speakers, free music, and food and we will also have a Latino Get out the Vote registration rally.

The National Tequila Party Movement is in the process of planning more rallies in San Antonio, El Paso, Dallas and Austin, Texas.  We are planning more rallies in New Mexico, Nevada, (Miami-Dade) Florida, Colorado, California, Kansas, Illinois and New York this year because it is an important Presidential cycle and we are motivated to vote in droves because we will only receive respect when we vote.

About the National Tequila Party Movement.

The Kansas Compact finally gets introduced by Rep. Louis Ruiz with Tequila Party Movement Support

Friday, March 2nd, 2012

Finally!  The KANSAS COMPACT  efforts by non-partisan and Latina-led political movement is penetrating the Heart of America in Kansas!  The Tequila Party has headquarters in Arizona (immigration ground zero) and we are fighting Tea Party extremism.

The KANSAS COMPACT and the COMPACT WITH AMERICA needs support from all sides of the political spectrum and support cannot come from just one political aisle.  The Tequila Party Movement consists of Independents, Democrats, Republicans, and Libertarian voters and it is going to take all efforts from all sides to set this nation back on a course that remembers our immigrant history.  Immigrants have made this nation great.

We want to congratulate Kansas Rep. Louis Ruiz for introducing this bill and for his leadership.  We felt this was necessary when Kansas Rep. Virgil Peck made the violent remark when he advocated the shooting of immigrants like hogs.  We hope to see a positive outcome from a horrible black eye Virgil Peck left Kansas with.

As you know might already know, the Tequila Party is a counter movement to the extremist Tea Party Movement.  The Tequila Party Movement is a group that motivates Latinos to get out and vote and vote for pro immigrant politicians.  We need the Kansas Compact to be passed since Kris Kobach (also advises anti-immigrant 2012 Republican Presidential candidate — Mitt Romney) is the architect behind many anti-DREAM Act, anti-immigrant laws, and his attacks on our 14th amendment via birthright citizenship laws.   Kris Kobach has ties to white nationalist and anti-semitic John Tanton.

From DOS MUNDOS:

On Feb. 16, Kansas Rep. Louis Ruiz introduced a bill into the Kansas Legislature  as a call for responsible immigration reform resulting from respectful, humane dialogue: the Kansas Compact.
The compact is an outgrowth of the Tequila Party movement. Founded during the summer of 2011, the Tequila Party emerged as a response to growing public and legislative anti-immigrant sentiment. The non-partisan group seeks to empower Hispanics through initiatives such as increasing voter registration and the compact, which details principles to guide the legislature in writing laws that affect undocumented immigrants.
“Tequila spearheaded this (compact) for several years (by) trying to initiate different states to introduce it,” Ruiz said. “We tried to introduce it last year, but it didn’t go anywhere.”
Readers will probably remember 2011 as the year of the Kansas voter identification law and the potential repeal of in-state tuition for undocumented students. The controversial laws are followed this year by a bevy of new immigration legislation, including a mandate forcing all employers to use E-Verify and another law intended to turn Kansas law enforcement officers into immigration officers, a la Arizona’s controversial Senate Bill 1070.

DOS MUNDOS Editor’s note:

The compact is based on the Tequila Party’s Compact with America.

Compact With America

A declaration of five principles to guide America’s immigration discussion:
Federal solutions – Immigration is a federal policy issue between the U.S. government and other countries, not individual states and other countries. We urge Congress and others to lead efforts to strengthen federal laws and protect our national borders. We urge state leaders to adopt reasonable policies addressing immigrants in America.

Law enforcement – We respect the rule of law and support law enforcement’s professional judgment and discretion. Local law enforcement resources should focus on criminal activities, not civil violations of federal code.

Families – Strong families are the foundation of successful communities. We oppose policies that unnecessarily separate families. We champion policies that support families and improve the health, education and wellbeing of all American children.

Economy – America is best served by a free-market philosophy that maximizes individual freedom and opportunity. We acknowledge the economic role immigrants play as workers and taxpayers. America’s immigration policies must reaffirm our global reputation as a welcoming and businessfriendly state.

A free society – Immigrants are integrated into communities across America. We must adopt a humane approach to this reality, reflecting our unique culture, history and spirit of inclusion. The way we treat immigrants will say more about us as a free society and less about our immigrant neighbors. America should always be a place that welcomes people of good will.

Tequila Party to Protest Mitt Romney and Tea Party at Arizona GOP CNN Debate

Latino Group Demands Apology from Hispanic Leadership Network for lack of consistency and Latino Hypocrisy

Monday, February 20th, 2012

Unbelievable.

The Hispanic Leadership Network (HLN) is asking for an apology from the Obama 2012 Campaign manager after their own organization has received monies and sponsorship support from the very Prison Systems that benefit from housing the non-criminal element of undocumented immigrants.  They support prison systems  wasting millions and millions of dollars in tax payer monies due to  their lack of “smart enforcement.” That said, the Tequila Party Movement is asking for an apology from HLN.

We are demanding that the Hispanic Leadership Network  take a look at themselves first before pretending to advocate for Hispanics.

Where was the HLN at when Mitt Romney received the endorsement of Kris Kobach who is the architect behind all anti-immigrant and anti-Latino laws?

Where was the HLN at when Mitt Romney received Republican — Pete Wilson’s endorsement in California knowing full well that it was Pete Wilson’s extremist anti-immigrant views that painted the State of California “Democratic Blue?”

Where was the HLN at when Mitt Romney stated he would veto our Hispanic youth via the DREAM Act?

When will the HLN return the sponsorship money from all of those prison systems and corporations that house the non-criminal element of the undocumented?

Where was the HLN at when Texas DREAM Act Student, Joaquin Luna,  took his life because he felt he had no hope?

Where was the HLN at when Republican Lawmaker Virgil Peck advocated the shooting of immigrants like feral hogs?

Indeed Jim Messina made a chimichanga remark but what about the blood money on HLN’s hands from the prison systems who benefit from American Tax Payer dollars to house the non criminal element of the undocumented immigrant?

HLN needs to be careful in pointing “anti-Latino” fingers at others when 5 can be pointed right back at them.

(Above) Hispanic Leadership Network Receives Sponsorship Support from Prison systems housing the non criminal element of undocumented immigrants wasting millions of American Tax Payer Dollars. Smart enforcement ought to be exercised.

A forwarded email that was sent to me today from Jennifer Korn, Executive Director HLN:

You should be aware that today there was a ridiculous tweet from Obama 2012 campaign manager Jim Messina. Messina’s tweet said, “Line of the day from WAPO’s Dana Milbank: ‘The chimichanga? It may be the only thing Republicans have left to offer Latinos.’”

No matter what your political affiliation is, it is insulting to our community. Our country faces serious problems and instead of the President’s own campaign manager talking about the issues, he thinks it is okay to insult us.

OBAMA CAMPAIGN MANAGER’S JOKE IS
NO LAUGHING MATTER TO LATINOS

Hispanic Leadership Network Demands Apology from President and His Campaign

WASHINGTON, DC – Hispanic Leadership Network (HLN) Executive Director Jennifer Sevilla Korn today issued the following statement in response to a tweet from Obama 2012 Campaign Manager Jim Messina, saying: “Line of the day from WAPO’s Dana Milbank: ‘The chimichanga? It may be the only thing Republicans have left to offer Latinos.’”

“The fact that the campaign manager of President Obama’s reelection campaign thinks it’s appropriate to disseminate insulting jokes about the Hispanic community is a perfect example of the kind of empty rhetoric that characterizes this White House’s so-called outreach to Latinos. We demand that Mr. Messina immediately apologize and we ask that President Obama disavow his campaign manager’s ridiculous statement. Liberals are always trying to put Hispanics in a box. In typical fashion, when liberals cannot speak substantively to the top issues facing our community, they resort to name calling.

“The facts remain the same, and they are no laughing matter. President Obama broke his campaign promises to the Hispanic community on jobs and immigration. Our community is suffering from over 11% unemployment rate. In addition, President Obama has deported more immigrants than any other U.S. president in history. When confronted with his record, this President has no standing with Hispanic voters across our country.”

VETO Mitt Romney not the DREAM Act Protest today in Mesa, Arizona

Monday, February 13th, 2012

I don’t understand how Mitt Romney can associate with white nationalist thinkers such as Kris Kobach and Pete Wilson. He is coming to Mesa, Arizona, a place where the Mormon Temple exists today and we are going to protest him because he is not compassionate to fellow mankind.

Why doesn’t Mitt Romney abide by the Utah Compact? Since Romney promised to Veto the DREAM Act, Latinos nation-wide are promising to veto him at the polls. And guess what? There are already 100,000 new eligible Arizona Latino voters since Gov. Jan Brewer signed the SB 1070 bill. Furthermore, the Obama administration and the Democrats are applying the “Blue print” strategy here in Arizona that emulates their successful Colorado strategy. In 2008, the State of Colorado registered approximately 225,000 new eligible Latino voters which virtually painted Colorado blue due to Tom Tancredo’s inhumane treatment of immigrants.

Mitt Romney and his entire family are hypocritical with their anti-immigrant positions.  Romney’s  grandfather was accepted by Mexico at a time he was fleeing the United States due to polygamy beliefs. This is no way to thank Latinos when Latin country (Mexico) accepted his grandfather at a time of their need. Romney is on the record for stating he wants to send ALL undocumented back to where they came from.  While Mexico accepted his family, Romney wants to kick out all the Mexicans and trample on what Mexico did for HIS family.

Join us in this protest today.

Arizona Against Romney’s Anti-DREAM Act Rhetoric PROTEST!

TODAY from 4:00 pm through 7:00 pm

  • Mesa Amphitheatre 263 N Center Street Mesa, AZ 85201
  • So we found out that Romney, the same one that has been endorsed by one of the creators of SB 1070 and the person who has said over and over again that he will veto the DREAM Act if he becomes president, IS COMING TO OUR TOWN!!

Join us at this event to let Romney know that Latinos and our community will not stand with his anti-DREAM, anti-immigrant rhetoric. WE WILL VETO ROMNEY!

His event will be starting at 5:30pm, but we will be meeting at 4pm at the corner parking lot of Center and University Dr. in Mesa.

Birther/Nativist Millionaire endorses another Birther-supported Millionaire – Trump endorses Romney

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

What do Donald Trump and Mitt Romney have in common?  Both love to fire people.  We all know Donald Trump’s infamous you’re fired line, but Romney is famous for firing people, too, via Bain Capital when thousands of families were affected when they lost their jobs.

Donald Trump, a birther who demanded to see President Obama’s birth certificate is endorsing Mitt Romney who ALSO received another nativist endorsement via Kris Kobach in January 2012.  Mitt Romney is receiving advice from a known birther which is why he has promised to veto the DREAM Act and can never be trusted by Latinos, or any other minority group.  He is who he surrounds himself with.  Kris Kobach’s relationship to FAIR is clear and irrefutable – not only does he represent FAIR’s support for white nationalism in court rooms, he is responsible for almost all protectionist, restrictionist and isolationist anti-immigrant laws across the country.  So there you have it – Romney is surrounding himself with nativists and white nationalist supporters via the John Tanton network. John Tanton has contributed to the Pioneer Fund and has strong views against the Jews.   Mitt Romney chose to make a deal with the devil when he chose to make it with Kobach and for that he must never be voted for.

It appears that the likes of John Tanton would love more than anything to create a RACE WAR which is why I believe Mitt Romney is a dangerous man for the United States when Kris Kobach confirmed he was advising him.  WE ARE FOR THE UNITED STATES, Mr. Romney — not a DIVIDED STATES.

Kris Kobach is the legal arm to FAIR who’s only solution to immigration is to simply have none — they don’t want to fix the broken system, they want to eliminate all migration completely.

From the SPLC:

Tanton on ‘the Jews’

In some ways, given his ideas, it’s not surprising that John Tanton would cozy up to white nationalists and their fellow travelers. What is unexpected, even among long-time observers of the FAIR founder, is his attitude toward “the Jews.”

In the late 1990s, Kevin MacDonald, a California State University, Long Beach, professor, was finishing up a trilogy of books that purported to show that Jews collectively work to undermine the dominant majorities in the host countries in which they live, including the United States. MacDonald said that Jews pursue these tactics — including promoting non-white immigration into white-dominated nations — in order to weaken the majority culture in a bid to enhance their own standing. He would later go on to speak and write for white nationalist groups across America.

Tanton liked what he read. On Dec. 28, 1998 — the same year that the last two books of MacDonald’s trilogy were published — he wrote MacDonald, saying, “I hope we can meet some day.” On that same date, Tanton sent a memo to Dan Stein and the FAIR board of directors about a MacDonald paper “on the segment of the Jewish community that has an open borders mentality.” The paper, Tanton said, “would be fertile for group discussion at the forthcoming board meeting.”

Earlier that month, on Dec. 10, 1998, Tanton also sent MacDonald’s work to Cordelia Scaife May, a now-deceased millionaire philanthropist who gave regularly to far-right causes and was a close Tanton friend. “I’m sure [MacDonald's article] will give you a new understanding of the Jewish outlook on life, which explains a large part of the Jewish opposition to immigration reform,” he wrote.

Tanton’s criticism of religious groups wasn’t limited to Jews, however. Over the years, he — like some principals of FAIR — lashed out at a variety of religious denominations, especially Catholics, for their welcoming attitude toward immigrants coming to America from the Third World. In his letter to the FAIR board suggesting a discussion of Kevin MacDonald’s theories, for instance, he described “the Roman Catholic Church [and] several of the Protestant denominations, the Lutheran Church in particular,” as being among “our opponents.” In an earlier, May 24, 1994, letter to Roy Beck of NumbersUSA, he said that “one of the problems with churches is that they see themselves as universal, and as transcending national boundaries.”

Endorsing Eugenics

For years, FAIR President Dan Stein has hotly denied that his organization had anything to do with eugenics. “Eugenics,” he wrote in a 2004 op-ed in the Kansas City Star, “is pure junk science, and it is utterly unrelated to FAIR’s efforts to bring order to immigration in America.” Two months later, in a press release attacking the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) for suggesting otherwise, the group called SPLC’s reporting “utterly specious” and “McCarthyist.”

The press release went on to accuse the SPLC of unfairly linking FAIR to “a long discredited pseudo-science of eugenics” by noting the group had accepted $1.2 million from the eugenicist Pioneer Fund, ending in 1994. The release also claimed that the idea that FAIR had an interest in eugenics had been disproven.

Apparently, John Tanton failed to get that message.

On Dec. 30, 1994 — at the end of the year that FAIR finally stopped soliciting Pioneer donations (after negative publicity) and issued its denunciation of eugenics — Tanton wrote to German academic Wolfgang Bosswick to defend the Pioneer Fund, saying its critics were the “hard (Marxist) left in the United States.”

“No Somos Rubios” goes NATIONAL and viral on Latin media via Hispanic social networking

Friday, January 27th, 2012

Remember when Senator Marco Rubio kicked us when Latinos were down and out during a difficult Latino era when the Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer passed the harsh anti-immigrant law — SB 1070?  We are now seeing Senator Marco Rubio taking a populist approach on the DREAM Act.  He is clearly treating our youth like political footballs.  Senator Marco Rubio kicked us when we were down when he stated his support for Arizona’s harsh anti-immigrant law and he stated multiple times that he was against the DREAM Act.  Now that the 2012 Presidential election cycle is up and both parties need the Latino vote, we are hearing opportunist and populist Marco Rubio  sing a different tune.

From Adriana Maestas in POLITICS365:

Beyond Florida, should Marco Rubio become the Vice Presidential candidate, he will likely face trouble out west where there are larger Mexican American and other Latino populations most impacted by the immigration issue. Cuban Americans and Puerto Ricans in Florida are less impacted by immigration because of their status; Cuban Americans have the Cuban Adjustment Act and Puerto Ricans are US citizens by birth.

Mitt Romney flip flops on DREAM Act: “DREAMers good enough to die in the military but not good enough for a degree?”

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

From the National Tequila Party Movement:

For Immediate Release

24 January 2012

Contact:  Shirl Mora James, Lead Co-Presdident

info@nationaltequilapartymovement.com

Mitt Romney flip flops on DREAM Act: “DREAMers good enough to die in the military but not good enough for a degree?”

The National Tequila Party is appalled and disgusted that GOP candidate Mitt Romney is only willing to allow our American DREAMer’s to adjust their legal status by serving in the military.  However, last month in Iowa, Romney was singing a different tune when he promised Iowans that he said he would veto the DREAM Act.  It is ironic that many DREAMers have been here since they were babies and that this country is the only country that they know.  They have been pledging allegiance to our country and flag since they have been in grade school.

Romney’s message to the Latina/o community appears to be “I am willing to allow DREAMERS to fight for our country” at the same denying our American DREAMers access to a college education.  What is wrong with Romney’s line of thinking?  We at the National Tequila Party believe that is very unfortunate yet very significant that Romney is willing to risk our children’s lives while at the same time delegating our children to second-class citizenship by promising to veto the educational portion of the DREAM Act. What this tells us is that our children are good enough to fight and die for this country yet, they are not good enough to be educated.

Now, Romney with his back against the wall and finally recognizing that he does need the Latina/os vote, he comes courting.  Conversely, Romney’s actions do not fool us because we all know who Romney’s friends are!  Therefore, the National Tequila Party is calling out to all Latina/os that are in the open-primary states to go “Vote for anybody BUT Mitt Romney” and send a clear message to Romney “NO MAS”!

DREAM Act students weep at the failure of the 2010 DREAM Act vote.
