The below gives you information regarding Rancho Feliz – a philanthropist group that gives 94 cents of every dollar to the cause. One event coming up will give 10 tons of food and 1,000 warm blankets to 1,000 families.
From their website:
The Rancho Feliz Charitable Foundation, Inc. was founded in 1987 by brothers Gil & Troy Gillenwater. It was originally formed to provide food, clothing and shelter to abandoned children along the Mexican border. However, over the years the Foundation has grown to the point where its principal focus is now two fold.
… This two pronged focus fosters a symbiotic relationship where givers become receivers and receivers become givers. At Rancho Feliz we provide an arena where both sides benefit equally from the same service transaction.
On October 11, 12 & 13, the Rancho Feliz will be having a food distribution event to raise money for folks south of the border. Bicyclists are volunteering to ride for the cause and a sponsor can donate a specific Rider to help raise money. Rancho Feliz has no budget for marketing which is why I am helping to raise awareness for this cause.
Here are the details:
Saturday, October 12, 2013 – Our Rancho Feliz “Guardian Warriors” will ride in the 26th annual Cochise County Cycling Classic in Douglas, Arizona. They will be joined by the newly established “Vecinos Cycling Team” from Agua Prieta, Mexico.
Following the ride, Rancho Feliz participants will caravan across the border to a specially chosen Fandango site. Here the bonds of international friendship and cooperation will be strengthened.
Sunday, October 13, 2013 – Our Rancho Feliz “Guardian Warriors” and their Mexican volunteer counterparts will package and distribute 10 tons of food and 1,000 warm blankets to 1,000 families. This will also be the kick-off for our “Clean up Agua Prieta” campaign. Each recipient will be required to bring in 20 discarded plastic bags and/or plastic bottles. This means over 20,000 plastic bags/bottles will be removed from the streets and recycled, with proceeds funding educational scholarships.
This cooperative, international event will shine a light on Rancho Feliz’s visionary border programs and how our two countries can work hand-in-hand to solve our challenges. Together we can show the world that we are:
BIGGER than Borders!
