2016 Matching Funds an incentive for Libertarian – Republican voters to vote for Gary Johnson this year

Thursday, November 1st, 2012

The Republican Party ignored Gary Johnson when he was a Republican, in fact they ignored him. Now that Gary is a Libertarian, he is able to speak freely. Several former Republicans have fled the GOP to become Libertarians or Independent voters.

Allow this writing to be specifically directed to Libertarian and Libertarian-Republican voters…

Did you know that if Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson gets at least 5% of the vote, that means the Libertarian Party will have the OPTION to  receive several millions in matching campaign funds in 2016?  Johnson is polling at 6% nationally.

Johnson is clearly onto something.  Major parties, along with minor parties that reach the 5 percent threshold, do indeed qualify for grants in federal matching funds (although the $90 million figure Johnson referred to is unclear at this point).

Remember when the Republican Party would not include then Republican Gary Johnson in the debates?  Well it appears excluding Gary from his freedom of expression is not helping them this 2012 election year.

I predicted the GOP would regret excluding Johnson last year when I wrote:

Now that Gary Johnson has left the Republican Party, he will become political power house and help frame political discourse

And now the test of time has taken place and the prediction is coming into fruition.

TIME recently wrote:

For months, as Johnson ran in the Republican presidential primary, the GOP ignored him as best it could, hoping he’d just go away. Then he did, leaving the Republicans to join the Libertarians. When I ran into him at the GOP convention in Tampa, Johnson looked like a man far removed from his former party, blocks from the convention center, standing on a street corner in front of a Hooters doing interviews.

The GOP isn’t ignoring him anymore. Now that Johnson is threatening to siphon votes from Mitt Romney in close elections in Colorado and Nevada (he’s also on the ballot in 46 other states and Washington, D.C.), Republicans are doing whatever they can to limit his appeal. Michigan party officials kept him off the ballot because he filed his paperwork three minutes late. In Pennsylvania, the GOP hired a private detective who went to canvassers’ homes and flashed his old FBI badge before questioning the signatures they collected, a lawyer for Johnson’s campaign alleged. The state GOP and the investigator denied doing anything improper. (On Oct. 10 a judge decided that Johnson will be on the Pennsylvania ballot.) The experience has left Johnson, 59, alienated from some of his old comrades—which, it turns out, he doesn’t mind at all. “Going to Republican events, as I did a zillion times, I listened to Republican candidates do their spiel. I cringed at a lot of what they said, whether it was abortion, the terrorist threat, the homophobia, the ‘illegal immigrant is the source of all our problems’—man, that stuff made me crazy. The kook element of the Libertarians gets up, and I don’t cringe.”

Libertarians have a reasonable solution to immigration than the Republicans do

Tuesday, October 30th, 2012

Will the Barry Goldwater Republicans vote for Libertarian Candidate Marc Victor for U.S. Senate? Or will they vote in the enforcement-only immigration Republican Jeff Flake in 2012?

Allow what I write below to land into the hands of the Barry Goldwater Republicans of Arizona.

Jeff Flake knows how to add salt to a wound after first ripping off a scab.

Career politician Jeff Flake was for the DREAM Act, then against it, now he is for it again.

Confused?  You should be.

Why is Flake for the DREAM Act now?  Because Arizona polls in favor of the DREAM Act now.

There was a time many years ago when Republicans pushed for legal immigration reform that benefited businesses, building developers, construction and hotel industries, restaurants and etc.  The GOP then became hijacked by a bunch of Dixiecrats, and now several former Republicans and free market-savvy individuals left the GOP to join the Libertarian Party because Libertarian voters tend to vote their pocket books and do not support government wasteful spending.

I want to highlight  two individuals in the State of Arizona because I know there are many Barry Goldwater Republican voters in our midst.

The two I’m talking about today are Libertarian Candidate Marc Victor and Republican Jeff Flake.

Aside from his immigration reversals, Jeff Flake is for enforcement only immigration policies  unless it involves extending Cuban immigrant vacations on the tax payer’s dime. Why did Flake vote to extend Cuban vacations to begin with if they are supposed to be fleeing the ‘corrupt’ Cuba?    The U.S. is locking up more illegal immigrants than ever … and an Associated Press review shows the businesses have spent tens of millions of dollars lobbying lawmakers and contributing to campaigns.   The cost to American taxpayers is on track to top $2 billion for this year, and the companies are expecting their biggest cut of that yet in the next few years with government plans for new facilities to house the 400,000 immigrants detained annually.

Now contrast Republican-thinking with Libertarian-thinking Marc J. Victor’s views on tax payer dollars being wasted to detain  immigrants.   In other words, immigrants are being detained with millions of our tax payer dollars.  Many of these immigrants do not  have the mens rea factor.

In an immigration case, Victor stated:

Gene Healy is the senior editor at the Cato Institute, and he talks about the burgeoning prison system at the expense of tax payers.

He writes:

At one time, the sanction of the criminal law was reserved for serious, morally culpable offenders. But during the past 40 years, an unholy alliance of tough-on-crime conservatives and anti-big-business liberals has utterly transformed the criminal law. Today, while violent crime often goes unpunished, Congress continues to add new, trivial offenses to the federal criminal code. With more than 4,000 federal offenses on the statute books, and thousands more buried in the Code of Federal Regulations, it is now frighteningly easy for American citizens to be hauled off to jail for actions that no reasonable person would regard as crimes. At the same time, rampant federalization and mandatory minimum sentencing are making America’s criminal justice system ever more centralized and punitive. The result is a labyrinthine criminal code, a burgeoning prison population, and often real injustice. Go Directly to Jail examines those alarming trends and proposes reforms that could rein in a criminal justice apparatus at war with fairness and common sense.

So there you have it.

Will the Barry Goldwater cast their vote for enforcement-only Jeff Flake knowing full well the millions and millions of dollars Arizona builders lost due to restrictionism, protectionism and an enforcement-only atmosphere?  Or will they continue the career politician’s path?

NYT: Former Republican New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson (now Libertarian) is worrying Republicans 2012 Presidential Elections

Monday, October 15th, 2012

I predicted this would happen last year when the Republican Party mistreated Gary Johsnon when he was a GOP Presidential nominee but would not include him in the debates.

It appears the Ron Paul Revolution is alive and well via Gary Johnson.

Republicans are leaving the GOP due to the tea party extremism.

Now it is “come to Jesus” time for the Republicans.  Due to the GOP tent getting extremely small — facing extinction,  they will now have to face the undue consequences of their actions with their elitism.

For those of you who don’t know who Gary Johnson is, he is the Libertarian candidate running for President.  You see, he used to be a Republican when he was the Governor of New Mexico.  The Republican Party snubbed Gary and now they “will get what they wished for and will pay tenfold…..” That said, I see Gary Johnson being a power house in very much the same way Ross Perot was in 1992.  Remember Ross Perot from 20 years ago and who was concerned about free trade, federal budget deficits, and the U.S. national debt? I see the same parallel and we can learn from history.  Gary Johnson will influence the direction as he does his best to frame political discourse. Like Ross Perot….Gary will indeed have an important effect on the 2012 election, and I am told he will be on the ballot in 47 states so far in our Union, and his campaign is working tirelessly to get him on the other 3.

The new House Congressional Poll ratings will hurt the Republican Party since in essence they became the “Party of Hell No” instead of being the party of solutions. More than ever we need to go back to working on solutions….shedding the partisanship.  We need to go back to the Ronald Reagan and Tip O’Neill days. We are hungry for that.  We can no longer support the Tea Party and those who chant Hell No to everything.  Americans want politicians to do what they are paid to do and work with each other across the political aisle for what is in the best interest of the United States.    More Tea Party supporters have proven to be divisive with their “Hell No” to everything approach and it is destroying the unity message we yearn for because a house divided will not stand.

Gary no longer has to worry about pissing off the Republican Party.  He is now truly a free spirit and a free agent and he can speak what he is convicted to speak on.  Nobody can shut up Gary now, and that makes him politically dangerous.  I like that, and  I applaud his bold move in leaving the GOP for good and switching to the Libertarian Party.

What is with the Democratic Political Corruption? First Ben Arredondo now Catherine Miranda?

Wednesday, October 10th, 2012

What is with the Democratic Political Corruption?  First Ben Arredondo now Catherine Miranda?

State lawmaker Ben Arredondo pleads guilty to two felonies

Will resign his position in Arizona Legislature as part of the plea deal

Tempe politician Ben Arredondo pleaded guilty to two felonies and agreed to resign his legislative seat Friday, becoming the latest in a string of Arizona politicians to face criminal and ethics charges.

Trembling as he addressed the court, Arredondo pleaded guilty in federal court to honest services fraud and mail fraud. Honest services fraud is a federal charge often used in cases related to public corruption. Each felony comes with a maximum prison sentence of up to 20 years and $250,000 in fines. Restitution could be up to $50,000.

Now there is developing news that a Legislative District 27 resident is sueing (D) Rep Catherine Miranda over allegations of forged signatures on campaign docs and wants her tossed off the ballot.

And for those of you who are not from our whacky state of Arizona….go figure that our own Tom Horne (Attorney General) is also being investigated.

Criminy!  The crap we have to put up with here.   Now you know why independent voters have surged in our State becoming the 2nd largest voting bloc in our state now for the first time in Arizona history.  This is my shameless plug for Arizona voters to support Prop 121.

Horne launches probe into Catherine Miranda campaign

The Arizona Attorney General’s Office is launching a criminal investigation of Democratic state Rep. Catherine Miranda’s campaign, according to a spokeswoman for Attorney General Tom Horne.

The case stems from two investigations that Secretary of State Ken Bennett referred to Horne’s office, Bennett spokesman Matthew Roberts said Friday.

Documents obtained by 12 News indicate that the case focuses on possible forgery on campaign documents, including Miranda’s petitions seeking Clean Elections Commission money for her District 27 re-election race.

Republican Mitt Romney wants to increase our war budget; Former Republican now Libertarian Gary Johnson wants to decrease wasted tax dollars on war

Tuesday, October 9th, 2012

Let me be clear, President George W. Bush began both wars against Iraq and Afghanistan, and to President Obama’s credit…he delivered Osama Bin Laden and ensured OBL would not harm anymore Americans.  In fact, Obama is highlighting his troop drawdowns in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Obama campaign to highlight troop drawdowns in Iraq, Afghanistan

That said, and now that OBL is out of the way … i s it really necessary for Mitt Romney to increase our war budget when our ‘top brass’ didn’t ask for it?  Mitt Romney wants to increase our war budget by $2.1 trillion.  Imagine if we invested that here in our Homeland instead of abroad.  We are tired of bombing countries only to rebuild their infrastructure.  We need jobs HERE in our homeland and we cannot afford to piss away our tax payer dollars by constantly bombing other countries — especially during  a slow economy.  Military dependents are tired of war mongering Republicans who are quick to send out troops in danger’s way, but are not there when their lives are snuffed out of them.

Americans are sick and tired of war, and more importantly dependents and family members of soldiers serving in the Armed Forces are, too.

We simply cannot afford to increase the war budget.   It is insane how Mitt Romney wants to kill Big Bird on Sesame Street but increase the war budget by $2.1 Trillion dollars. Our top military brass isn’t even asking for an increase so this is another example of Romney’s inability to comprehend foreign policy.

Perhaps Mitt Romney can learn a thing or two from former Republicans (now Libertarian candidate) Gary Johnson with regard to foreign policy, war and defense.

Just in: Republican Senator and Vietnam Veteran endorses President Obama over Mitt Romney

Monday, October 8th, 2012

I am not a Republican anymore, but as a key independent voter and a Gulf War veteran of our Armed Forces, I am not supporting Mitt Romney either.  I am  supporting Obama for Presidency.  I would rather have 4 more years of Obama than 8 years of Mr. Multiple Choice Mitt.

From the former South Dakota Senator Larry Pressler (Ret.) R-SD

Larry Pressler

Member US House 1975-79 Member US Senate 1979-97. Vietnam Veteran-served two combat tours in Vietnam, received Bronze Star, Member Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and VFW- Member, Jericho Homeless Veterans National Board

As a combat veteran of two tours in Vietnam with twenty-two years of service as a Republican member of the U.S. House and Senate, I endorse President Barack Obama for a second term as our Commander-in-Chief. Candidates publicly praise our service members, veterans and their families, but President Obama supports them in word and deed, anywhere and every time.

As a Vietnam vet, one of the reasons I support President Obama is because he has consistently shown he understands that our commitment to our servicemen and women may begin when they put on their uniform, but that it must never end.

This decision is not easy for any lifelong Republican. In 2008 I voted for Barack Obama, the first time I ever voted for a Democrat, because the Republican Party was drifting toward a dangerous path that put extreme party ideology above national interest. Mitt Romney heads a party remaining on that dangerous path, proving the emptiness of their praise as they abandon our service members, veterans and military families along the way.

MARICOPA PAC paves way for Independent Candidate Mike Stauffer for Sheriff – Partisanship does not belong at MCSO

Monday, October 8th, 2012

MARICOPA PAC paves way for Independent Candidate Mike Stauffer for Sheriff – Partisanship does not belong at MCSO!  Contact them today and contribute!

Keep in mind that it is the first time in history independent arizona voters make up the 2nd largest voter bloc!  Mike Stauffer is also a supporter of Prop 121!

We need thoughtful, honest law enforcement.  Bullying tactics have costs the state more than $100m in liability suits and claims that Arizona taxpayers have to bear.

Mike Stauffer is the only candidate for Sheriff with command experience and REAL law enforcement leadership skills. VOTE to give Arizona relief from the embarrassment of four more years of Joe Arpaio backwater justice.

Libertarian Michael Kielsky for Maricopa County Attorney since the Maricopa County Democratic Party failed to submit a candidate

Sunday, October 7th, 2012

Libertarian Michael Kielsky for Maricopa County Attorney since the Maricopa County Democratic Party failed to submit a candidate.

A load of more signs to support Michael Kielsky for Maricopa County Attorney recently came in and his support is growing.  Since the Maricopa County Democratic Party failed to submit a candidate to run against Republican Bill Montgomery, we want to alert voters that they have a better option with Kielsky.

I will be voting for Kielsky for Maricopa County Attorney this year. It is a matter of time before Bill retires do to his extremist association and ties with the corrupt Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

(Above) Michael Kielsky who is the only candidate on the ballot running against Bill Montgomery. We want Independent voters, moderate Republicans and Democrats to know they have an option in the Maricopa County Attorney race since the Maricopa County Democratic Party failed to submit a candidate.

Gary Johnson visits ASU and addresses liberty issues to Ron Paul / Libertarian / Libertarian-Republicans and students.

Friday, September 28th, 2012

Gary Johnson recently visited ASU and addressed several Liberty-related issues including drugs, immigration, war and liberty issues to Ron Paul/Libertarian/Libertarian-Republican and independent voters.

Here is a short clip taken by Nick Thomas on that day where Gary Johnson speaks to the media followed by Libertarian candidate Michael Kielsky (running against Maricopa County Counselor Bill Montgomery).  We also heard Barry Goldwater Jr. speak before Gary Johnson gave his keynote speech.

CAPTION: Gary Johnson Event at Arizona State University

I was very surprised to hear Gary Johnson say that President Obama received more “Liberty Torches” than Mitt Romney.  Now obviously, Gary Johnson received the most Liberty torches out of all the candidates, nonetheless….I was shocked.   According to Gary Johsnon, the ACLU came out with a report card last December 2011 where 24 Liberty torches was the perfect score.

Gary stated in this youtube video (fast forward to 5:45 minute mark) the following:

Mitt Romney received 0/24 Liberty torches.  (Zero)

Newt Gingrich had 4/24 Liberty torches

President Obama received 16/24 Liberty torches

Ron Paul received 18/24 Liberty torches

Gary Johnson had 21/24 Liberty torches

In looking at the above, you can see how President Obama is viewed as a moderate … and he is going to need to be viewed that way in order to garner independent voters like me or 80% of the moderate American population.  For those of you who could not attend the Gary Johnson event at Arizona State University, you can see his speech below:

Gary Johnson @ ASU Rally 9/26/12 Part 1
Gary Johnson @ ASU Rally 9/26/12 Part 2

We received so much support and love from the educated and open-minded voters at the Gary Johnson rally.  We love educated and open-minded people.

You see, when (Libertarian candidate) Andrea Glasscock Garcia ran against the extremist Arizona Senator Russell Pearce in 2010, I endorsed her when I used to be the President of Somos Republicans.  Like Gary Johnson, I left the Republican Party for good and I decided to be an independent registered voter here in Arizona.  I’m not the only one — (Independent) Mike Stauffer for Maricopa County Sheriff also left the Republican Party and is running against the corrupt Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

As an independent conservative, Mike Stauffer is Joe Arpaio’s most formidable opponent and it is time for Arpaio to go because the demographics are like this in Maricopa County:

36% registered R’s

35% registered I’s

29% registered D’s

1% registered L’s

So you can see why we are backing Mike Stauffer for Sheriff, because he attracts the fiscal conservatives, Libertarians, moderate Republicans and some Democratic voters, too.   Sheriff Joe Arpaio has wasted millions and millions of tax payer dollars.  He is no fiscal conservative, and has abused his authority. We want to thank Andrea Garcia for helping us secure a booth at this Gary Johnson event.  It was successful, fruitful and we were well received by the exact target market we need in order to beat Arpaio. Below are photos of the National Tequila Party Movement micro-targeting Libertarians / Libertarian-Republicans / Independents / Ron Paul revolutionists / Gary Johnson supporters and so on.
