Native American Woman Legislator Reminds Anti-Immigrant Politician He Was An “Illegal” Immigrant, Too

Wednesday, March 20th, 2013

In August 2011, the National Tequila Party Movement (woman led counter-movement to the extreme Tea Party Movement)

Kansas Tequila Get Out The Vote Rally – 2011.  Ponka-We Victors helped us register new Latino Voters.

hosted a Kansas Latin Get Out the Vote with the help of immigration reform community leaders who want to protect children and students via the DREAM Act.  Rep. Ponka-We helped the Tequila Party register brand new Latino voters.

Rep Ponka-We Victors is a Native American serving in the Kansas state legislature.  She is a sister to Mexican-Americans for life due to  her continued support for legal immigration reform.  This dynamic woman puts her money where her mouth is and knows immigrants help the farming and agricultural industry.  She believes all [wo]men are created equal.  (I would like to see this woman run for Governor some day).

For those of you who may not know who Kris Kobach is — he is the author of Arizona’s Draconian SB1070 law.  He has helped suppress voting rights for the elderly, the disabled and minorities. We were glad to see Ponka-We Victors courage and compassion for children and students rise to the occasion today when she put Kobach in his place.

More importantly, Kris Kobach has hurt the business and agricultural community in Kansas with his restrictionist and protectionist views with regard to our economy.  Kobach is putting the agricultural and business community in a pickle that reminds us of the Dixiecrats of yore.

A coalition of business groups will propose Kansas start a new program to help some illegal immigrants remain in the state so they can hold down jobs in agriculture and other industries with labor shortages, coalition representatives disclosed Tuesday.

Kris Kobach’s views are affecting large Kansas dairies and feedlots, too.

Here is what Ponka-We Victors communicated to Kobach.

From CJ Online:

The Legislature’s annual attempt to repeal a statute allowing in-state tuition for Kansas students without legal residency drew an emotional crowd to a House committee Wednesday.

Students who have lived in the United States most of their lives got choked up as they described the academic lifeline in-state tuition has provided to improve their lives. A counselor who works with such students in Wichita high schools shed tears as she showed legislators a scrapbook of success stories. Murmurs of unrest were heard in the gallery as one House member asked about the prevalence of illegal immigrants from gangs and drug cartels in American prisons.

But nothing drew a bigger reaction than when Rep. Ponka We-Victors, D-Wichita, wrapped up a series of questions to the bill’s chief proponent, Secretary of State Kris Kobach.

“I think it’s funny Mr. Kobach, because when you mention illegal immigrant, I think of all of you,” said Victors, the Legislature’s lone American Indian member.

The heavily pro-immigrant gallery burst into cheers and applause — a rare reaction in normally staid hearings.

Way to go, Rep. Ponka-We Victors!  For reminding people the basics of American history.

Thank you Senator McCain / Senator Kyl for endorsing Richard Carmona in the Senate Confirmation Hearing (Video)

Saturday, November 3rd, 2012

Thank you Senator McCain and Senator Kyl for endorsing Richard Carmona in the Senate Confirmation Hearing.  This is precisely why I am supporting

Veterans for Carmona! Because Carmona is a veteran, too, who served our Nation and put his own life on the line for this great Country.

Richard Carmona as our next U.S. Senator.  Thank you Congressman Jeff Flake for your service in your many years as a Representative, but you have served us  long enough, and we don’t support career politicians.  At one point you also agreed with term limits, and we hope you understand why many of us still believe in term limits.  Career politicians simply lose touch with the average and ordinary American, and please understand and know that when you voted against youth and students via the DREAM Act — you broke our hearts.  Now… it is time for a fresh perspective … and a man who will lead at the Hill with an independent mindset.  We cannot afford to succumb to tea party extremism anymore because it is time for our Nation to heal and work in a bipartisanship fashion.

Richard Carmona served our Armed Forces and was willing to put his life on the line for our Nation.  Carmona has our Nation’s best interest.

Kyl:  “His unique background will serve him well and serve us well on the war on terror.”

McCain: “Our nation will gain an invaluable leader.”

Below is the Senate Confirmation Hearings where both McCain and Kyl supported Carmoan during.

David Schweikert writes about ObamaCare even though he endorsed Mr. RomneyCare for President

Wednesday, July 11th, 2012

I just received word that Tea Party and SB1070-loving Republican via Rep. David Schweikert created a power-point presentation

Rick Santorum: People may as well vote for Obama if Romney nominee.

of his anti-ObamaCare views.  [Notice how Schweikert had nothing to say about the Supreme Court Ruling on SB1070 that failed 75% because he was endorsed by the ousted and loser Sen. Russell Pearce?]  That said, the hypocritical Tea Partier, has nothing to say with regard to RomneyCare and how it helped fuel ObamaCare.  Where is Schweikert’s power point on how Romney encouraged Obamacare?

From Republicans for Obama (for the record, I left the GOP for good.  I’m an independent voter now):

By now, almost every American voter also knows that Mitt Romney signed Obamacare-light into law as governor of Massachusetts. What’s not discussed nearly as often, however, is that Romney also advocated for the adoption of Obamacare early on in the Obama presidency.

In other words, David Schweikert’s endorsement of Mr. RomneyCare for President is really no different than ObamaCare. David is merely toeing the party line with his obstructionist views.  Perhaps Republicans ought to clean their own political house before pointing fingers.  RomneyCare is a huge millstone around the GOP’s neck.

We are sick of power-hungry politicians like Rep. Schweikert who is dead set on being a career politician.

Since there are so many fraudulent views out there, perhaps Schweikert can learn from one of the economic think tanks out there via the CATO Institute.
