Will Jesus-loving and pro life Christians burn Ted Nugent’s records when they burned Beatles’ records?
Thursday, April 19th, 2012John Lennon made a controversial comment that first appeared in the London Evening Standard on March 4, 1966, and eventually erupted into the “Bigger than Jesus” scandal that brought a semi-official end to the giddy phenomenon known as Beatlemania. According to History.com:
“…a handful of Bible Belt disc jockeys took over, declaring Lennon’s remarks blasphemous and vowing an “eternal” ban on all Beatles music, past, present and future. “Our fantastic Beatle boycott is still in effect,” announced two DJs on WACI Birmingham in August 1966: “Don’t forget to take your Beatle records and your Beatle paraphernalia to any one of our 14 pickup points in Birmingham, Alabama, and turn them in this week.” The plan in Birmingham, as in various other cities around the South, was to burn the Beatles records turned in by angry listeners. …”
Another rocker – Ted Nugent made extreme and controversial comments against the President of the United States. According to the Huffington Post, he compares Obama and democrats to a coyote that should be shot (view the new footage at the bottom of linked article).
“It isn’t the enemy that ruined America. It’s good people who bent over and let the enemy in,” he said. “If the coyote’s in your living room pissing on your couch, it’s not the coyote’s fault. It’s your fault for not shooting him.”
We are waiting to see if Ted Nugent apologizes for his violent remark made to the POTUS. I don’t know if the hillbilly in the loin cloth will give a sincere apology though — hell, at least John Lennon was man enough to apologize for his “bigger than Jesus” remark.
My question is this …
Will the Bible Belt folks (like Mike Huckabee) eventually come to their senses to boycott and/or burn Ted Nugent music material, too?
Or, will there be hypocrisy to this regard?
In my opine, the NRA needs to denounce Ted Nugent and get him off their board for reasons I wrote about here. The NRA has history with Lee Harvey Oswald and the ammo that is associated with John F. Kennedy’s assassination.
What will the final outcome of the NRA be? Will they turn a blind eye?
Inquiring minds wanna know.
