Babeu ends congressional campaign

Friday, May 11th, 2012

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu announced on Friday that he is abandoning his bid for a seat in Congress and will be running for reelection as sheriff.

Here is the first three paragraphs from an email to supporters.

First, let me say how much your friendship and support means to me. When I announced my candidacy for Congress, I promised the citizens of Pinal County that I would ensure continuity of leadership in the Sheriff’s Office. Chief Deputy Steve Henry’s candidacy not only ensu...

Club for Growth Endorses Ron Gould

Tuesday, May 1st, 2012

In a stunning development in the AZ-04 race, the Club for Growth PAC has endorsed Arizona State Senator Ron Gould. The Lake Havasu City conservative has a strong record on spending and limited government but lacked the funding to be competitive against current AZ-01 Congressman Paul Gosar and Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu.

The Club’s support for Gould should very quickly move his campaign into the very competitive column. An endorsement by the Club for Growth usually includes a large cas...

Jeff Rogers Getting Tar on Himself

Sunday, January 29th, 2012

The Chairman of the Pima County Democrats, Jeff “Disagree With Me and I’ll Tar and Feather You” Rogers, stepped in it big time last week on the one year anniversary of the Civility Era when he called for elected officials to be tarred and feathered because their views differed from his.

Well, the Arizona Daily Star actually called him out as a hypocrite on the subject of civility–wonders never cease.  Rogers’ reaction was that since he speaking metaphorically,...

We Interrupt this Civility for a brief Incivility

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

If you didn’t have the chance to hear Debbie Wasserman Schultz on the John C. Scott Show Monday, you missed a touching tribute to Civility.

She spoke for about ten minutes with the host about how upon Giffords stepping down from Congress that we need now strive to be more civil.  She said that we need to find common ground.  But she didn’t stop there, she really laid it on thick and heavy.  She said we need to “redouble our efforts” for civility.  To work through dif...

A Stunning Lack of…Civility

Tuesday, January 17th, 2012

Tar and Feather?  Is that one Hispanic or two he wants to tar and feather?  “Unfit” to live here if you don’t agree with him?  Certainly doesn’t seem to be a very good example of ideological or racial diversity.  Don’t see a lot of working to find common ground or compromise there.  A “stunning lack of understanding” of Civility from Mr. Rogers.

That’s some old-school narrow minded bigotry there.

You remember “Civility”.  Pima ...

Sweeney, Torrez: A tale of two Daily Star articles

Friday, January 13th, 2012

You can draw your own conclusions but the Arizona Daily Star used noticeably different adjectives in describing two fringe perennial candidates for political office upon the passing of each, as seen below.  Both news articles were published in the Star’s proclaimed Era of Civility.

The two fringe candidates were on opposite ends of the spectrum.  Joe Sweeney fought to end illegal immigration, Lorenzo Torrez was a Communist.

The Star took it upon themselves to mischaracterize Sweeney in their...

Travis Grantham to target CD 9, not 5

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

East Valley Congressional candidate Travis Grantham (R) has adjusted his sights from the new CD 5 (Mesa, Gilbert, Queen Creek) to the newly created CD 9 (Phoenix, Tempe, west Chandler).

Kyrsten Sinema (D) resigned from the state senate earlier this month to pursue the CD 9 seat. Few other Republicans have shown interest in District 9.

Grantham’s announcement coupled with Chuck Gray’s withdraw, sets up a face-off between the establishment favorite Kirk Adams (R) and conservative Matt ...
