Wednesday night, Mark Levin, on his radio show, gave a spirited defense of Senator Orrin Hatch. Senator Hatch is being challenged in his re-election bid by fellow Republican and former Utah State Senator Dan Liljenquist. The Left presents this as a Tea-Party challenge, but that is not exactly on the mark, because the Tea Party groups are divided in this election, and some Tea Party people are supporting Hatch. On Tuesday night, Sarah Palin endorsed Hatch.
Getting at the truth in politics is a me...

I made no secret on this blog of my very lukewarm support for Mitt Romney for President during the primaries. My first preference was Michele Bachmann, my second was Rick Santorum.
But I noticed along the way weird things happening, chance things that worked in Romney’s favor, almost as if guided by an invisible hand. For example, just as Michele Bachmann’s began surging, Rick Perry entered the race and stole all her oxygen and quickly became the front runner, then he crashed and bur...

I heard Ted Cruz interviewed on Mark Levin’s radio show the other day. Was I impressed! I sent him some money.
Ted Cruz is a constitutional and social conservative who is running for the U.S. Senate against Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, who is a quintessential establishment Republican and who is endorsed by Rick Perry. One more reason not to trust Rick Perry. Ted is endorsed by Mark Levin, whose opinions I greatly respect, by the Club for Growth, by Senator Jim Demint, who runs the Senate...

I saw a posting on Buzzfeed.com today that got my attention. There is a photograph of a sign at St. Francis Xavier church that says, “Two men are friends not spouses.” Next to the sign is a handwritten sign tacked to a wooden fence that says, “You may not be welcome in this church, but ALL people are welcome in this community! Spread LOVE, not hate!!!!.”
Here is the question as I see these two signs: “Which sign is actually advocating hate and people not being welco...

Those pushing for legalizing same-sex marriage present it as a matter of tolerance and “civil rights.” That’s how President Obama explained his views. But it’s not about tolerance, it’s about intolerance. Let me explain.
The Left has gotten away with this mask of tolerance for too long. You’ll notice I call them “The Left” rather than Liberal, and I do that because they are not liberal. Their movement sprang from liberalism, because when the views ...

Racism is the worst sin of the modern era.
That is, unless it is black people hating white people.
I was thinking about the firing of blogger Naomi Schaefer Riley for her critique the she wrote for The Chronicle of Higher Education titled,
“The Most Persuasive Case for Eliminating Black Studies? Just Read the Dissertations.”
She had the gall to suggest that the dissertations she reviewed were “a collection of left-wing victimization claptrap.” And she went further. “...

Yes, I like it that Barack Obama is talking so much about killing Osama Bin Laden, and I hope he keeps doing it. As one who wishes fervently for Obama’s defeat in November, I hope he runs campaign ads about it, continues to say that Romney would not have ordered the strike, and milks the issue for all it’s worth.
The only way Obama can get re-elected – the only way he got elected in the first place – is by pretending to be something he’s not. Taking more credit than...

There is an article in the online LDS magazine, Meridian Magazine titled “Who Is My Enemy?” Written by Family Life Professor Dr. Wallace Goddard, it represents a body of political thought in the LDS Church that tends toward moderation.
The main premise of the article is that the spirit of contention is wrong and that we shouldn’t harbor ill will against political adversaries. While I agree with that, and, in fact, with almost everything the article says, I disagree somewhat wit...

The day after the Arizona Republican debate, where Romney and Paul ganged up on Rick Santorum, accusing him of not being a true conservative, conservative radio talk show host Mark Levin seemed really annoyed at both Ron Paul and Mitt Romney, each of whom has made it clear, in the past, that they are not true conservatives.
Mark brought out a number of audio clips from Romney’s past that expound his moderate position. If you are one of those who like to think of Romney as a true, consisten...

Let me start by laying the foundation. I am an anti-establishment Republican. I do not believe in “go along to get along.” I tend to support the anti-establishment candidates. Which is why I’m for Rick Santorum.
Rick looked sheepish when Ron Paul attacked him at the debate last night for his defense of voting for “No child left behind.” He said, in his defense, “Politics is a team sport,” upon which Ron Paul jumped on him. Team players, Ron Paul said, ar...

Mark Levin played this clip on his radio show the other night. I just love it when he catches Obama revealing what he truly thinks, and here Obama is, giving his constricted view of the American Dream:
I call it: “Dream small.” Click to play.

Rick Santorum spoke to an enthusiastic crowd of an estimated 600 to 700 persons, at the El-Zaribah Shrine Auditorium in Phoenix today. Here is the link to his 40-minute speech:

As a Santorum supporter, I’m delighted to see the attacks being mounted against him lately. And they’re coming principally from three quarters – Liberals, who are scared of his conservatism, establishment Republicans, who are also scared of, or maybe I should temper that to “worried about” his conservatism, and Romney supporters, who are trying to paint him as Liberal.
The thing is, they’re not getting anywhere. They’re offended at one of Santorum’...

Mark Levin opened his radio show tonight with the big flap over the mix-up over Obama’s religion.
“There’s a big flap out there, ladies and gentlemen. Somebody accidentally accused Barack Milhous Obama of being Muslim. But it was an accident, I promise you. (Mark Levin often uses “Milhous” as Obama’s middle name, since it has been said that we’re not allowed to use his real middle name.)
Here’s the clip. It’s 40 seconds. You’ll be appal...

I just discovered that my blog posting from last Friday, titled, The Mormon Case Against Romney, was picked up and published in its entirety by The Free Republic blog. And was commented on in a lively discussion, with comments such as:
“This guy nailed Bishop Romney to a tee.”
“This article should be bookmarked and presented as rebuttal to every clown who argues that a man’s faith is not important in determining his qualifications for public office.”
“Kudos to...

I’m LDS, and I fully realize that the Mormon vote is going for Romney. He’s going to take Utah. And Arizona. Pardon me for not joining.
I know the thinking. When that LDS tag is attached, members of the Church all understand that the person is honest, loving, trustworthy, etc., and all the others are questionable. I don’t buy that. I’ve seen too much of life to just accept that premise without any question. The rough approximations of the assumption of the character of LD...

Matt Salmon was the guest speaker at our Mountain View Tea Party tonight. I was very impressed.
My first clue that this is a man I can trust was his sticking to his word when he first served in Congress. He committed to limit himself to three terms, and he kept his word. I watched Jeff Flake try to weasel out of his similar promise – it was very unbecoming. I think most of those Republicans who made that pledge later broke their word. If you are untrustworthy in one thing, you will be untr...
