The White House is threatening to veto the House version of the farm bill, citing its 3 percent cut to food stamps (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP).  But consider this: The cost of the program has doubled in the last five years, costing $80 billion last year, and a record 47.8 million Americans now use the program—a 70 percent increase since 2008. Debt-Flicks: The Carney Shuffle

Earlier this week White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said that the president has made an “efficient and effective” government a “cornerstone” of his administration and that they take their role as “stewards of the taxpayer dollar very seriously.”  But to cut the wasteful spending, you gotta move your muscle.  There’s a brand new dance, it’s called the Carney Shuffle.

Where Does Your Tax Dollar Go?

ICYMI, on Tax Day, Heritage provided a useful chart showing federal spending, by percent, laid out on an image of a dollar bill. As it happens, we at Western Free Press did the same thing last year. Below are the two charts. Notice how entitlement spending is going up (this time, Social Security)? Note that eventually, entitlement spending will crowd out all other spending, consuming all revenue.
