In March, PoliceOne conducted “the most comprehensive survey ever of American law enforcement officers’ opinions” on the subject of gun control, and the results are stunning. Simply put, law enforcement officers are overwhelmingly of the belief that more gun laws will not help reduce crime, and than guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens will.

Guns don’t kill people, stupid gun laws do.

The essence of a lot of humor is simply this: taking things that people know to be true and talking about them out loud. Sometimes called “observational humor,” this technique has been used by such disparate voices as Andy Rooney and Jerry Seinfeld. People keep using it because it works.

Or, as Fat Tony said, “It’s funny ’cause it’s true.”
