Contrary to what the Arizona Daily Star says, Shaun McClusky is not an “ex-mayoral hopeful.” Back in 2011, the failed former Ward 5 City Council candidate made some noise about running for Mayor on the Republican ticket, but failed to get enough signatures to get on the ballot. In other words, he was never actually a candidate.
This points to the central problem with McClusky and the Tea-party vibe that he represents. Just as Sara Palin argued that a gig as a talking head on cable te...

We are not making this up Supervisors continue to award millions of dollars of taxpayers’ money to their cronies for “stress” over the crooks being prosecuted | | When is the gravy train going to end? We can only hope a couple of the new Maricopa County Supervisors put an end to this madness. It is about to be the eig...

Supervisor who replaced Max Wilson gave money to far left Democrats in 2008 THIS is who Governor Brewer forced the supervisors to choose as a replacement?
| We told you in a previous email that Clint Hickman was a very bad choice for a Maricopa County Supervisor replacement. Now we have discovered even more reasons why. If you go to the Secretary of Stat... | |

In general, I like Meridian Magazine and have been an online subscriber for years, occasionally giving them a donation and have even been a contributing author.
But occasionally they also get off track, and last Friday was one of those times.
The article by Jeff Murdock was titled “4 Ways to Prevent Narcissism in Children.” Here are snippets from his four ideas:
1. “Telling children that they should ‘do their best’ is a loaded concept.”
2. “Christ says, ...

“We must focus on cutting spending. If the conversation is starting with revenues, we’re having the wrong conversation.”
Those are the words of GOP Representative (and soon to be Senator) Tim Scott from South Carolina. He Twittered them last night, as the House GOP leadership abandoned plans to vote on “Plan B,” a proposal for avoiding the fiscal cliff. The plan, sponsored by Speaker of the House John Boehner and GOP leadership, didn’t have enough GOP support....

Suffice it to say, the gang at Fort Buckley is beaucoup bummed about last night. The entire garrison, unanimously, thinks America made a bad decision last night.
I don’t see our economy reviving, under our current leadership in Washington. The regulators are about to be unleashed. Expect businesses to cringe, shelter their assets and not expand. Soon we will feel the full effects of Obamacare. How much more of our children’s and grandchildren’s money are we going to spend on st...

Congressman Jim Kolbe
For more than two decades, Jim Kolbe served Tucson and southeastern Arizona in Congress. Despite Tucson’s Democrat-leanings, Kolbe was elected 11 times to represent it, and southeastern Arizona, on Capitol Hill. He was a subcommittee chairman on one of the House of Representative’s most powerful committees, the Appropriations Committee.
So, if you want to know what it takes to be an effective member of the House of Representatives—someone who can get thing...

…on the front page today, I thought I’d add this.
Next to National Review, the Weekly Standard is probably the most popular conservative news and opinion magazine in America. Bill Kristol, a well-known conservative TV pundit, is its editor.
The Standard‘s David Halper has written a story that strikes very close to home for Arizonans. Not only in its target, but in its sourcing as well. (All emphasis is added).
Richard Carmona, the former surgeon general under President George ...

The commander, staff and garrison (me, myself and I) of Fort Buckley hereby present our favorite video of this election cycle: “I Want To Be A Crony,” by Chrony Chronicles.
The video opens with this foreboding message: “Our Children Used To Have Big Dreams.” Used to?
Then, it shows fresh-faced children talking about the types of dreams kids have always had:
When I grow up, I’m want to be a doctor!
I’m going to be an architect!
When I grow up, I want to work h...

These good tidings come from the National Journal:
Obama Administration Sits on Key Regulations
The Obama administration roared into office four years ago with an openly ambitious regulatory agenda, releasing a higher-than-usual number of major regulations in the first two years. In 2012, the number of new regulations has plummeted in a year in which the president’s regulatory policies have emerged as a major campaign theme.
Gee, I wonder why the flow of new regulations has slowed down t...

Courtesy of Aaron Blake at the Washington Post, that bastion of conservative journalism! Aaron writes for “The Fix,” a WaPo blog that covers politics…at least today.
House Republicans may actually add to their majority on Election Day
The Fix now projects that the 2012 race for the House is likely to be close to a draw, and there is even a fair chance that Republicans will add to their biggest majority in six decades on Tuesday.
Below, The Fix is updating the ratings of 10 Hou...

Frank Antenori, GOP Candidate for Senate in LD10
Frank Antenori is running for the State Senate seat in LD10. He’s the current Majority Whip in the State Senate, a retired and decorated Green Beret and former Congressional candidate. Frank agreed to entertain a few questions from me Here are those questions and Frank’s replies:
1. Why should LD10 voters pick you?
I have clearly demonstrated the ability to bring leadership and political courage to the legislature on behalf of the re...

When you are desperate…for help in a storm.
Nonunion Alabama crews turned away from Sandy recovery
SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NEW JERSEY (WAFF) -
The hurricane-ravaged east coast has been receiving north Alabama help, but crews from Huntsville Utilities learned they’ll be doing work in Long Island, New York instead of in New Jersey.
Crews from Huntsville, as well as Decatur Utilities and Joe Wheeler out of Trinity headed up there this week, but Derrick Moore, one of the Decatur workers, said ...

That cancer is government dependency.
“The election-eve mood is tinged with sadness stemming from well-founded fear that America’s new government is subverting America’s old character.”
That’s the shocking, dismaying opening line in George Will’s latest column, “Mugging Our Descendants.” In that column, Will echoes a fear that many Americans feel: we are building a society that feels entitled, instead of responsible. A society that’s been raised to b...
