Santa Cruz River Farmers Market Solstice Fest
by Karyn Zoldan on Jun. 18, 2009, under Farmers MarketsThis is a tad late but today from 4 to 7 p.m. head on to Tucson’s westside for the Solstice Solar Fest happening at the Santa Cruz River Farmers Market on Speedway between the Arizona School of Deaf and Blind and El Rio Center.
From 4 to 5 p.m. you can learn how to cook with the sun by the use of solar ovens.
Many vendors will be on hand selling fresh herbs, eggplant, okra, squash, onions, tomatoes, chard, kale, cabbage, radishes, baking apples and more. Fresh eggs will be sold for $3/dozen. Plus there is desert honey, plants, native grains and beans, and more.
Live musicians are solar powered by the Solar Store.
