Tucson food – pie baking contest and pie party for a cause
The pie baking contest and pie party is a dash of pie altruism. Make pie. Win prizes. Eat pie.
It all happens at the Pie Party on Sunday, April 11, at Dunbar School Auditorium, 325 W. 2nd St. @ Main Ave. from 4 to 7 p.m.
Pies will be judged by chefs from Tucson’s local restaurants. Prizes will be awarded in each category for best fruit, cream, vegan, or other.
Out of the first place winners in each category, one Grand Champion will be selected. The winner of this prestigious “best of show” award will win a 4-night stay in a beachside condo in Puerto Peñasco and will select the recipient of the event’s proceeds.
The Pie Party has always been a benefit, since pie should be about fun and never about profit! This year 12 local grassroots non-profit organizations are the potential recipients. Start baking for your favorite local non-profit group.
You don’t have to be a master baker to win.
The more pie that’s entered in the contest, the more pie there is to eat after the contest part ends.
Following the baking contest all of the contest pies will be sliced open, and the Pie Partying will ensue. Slices will be sold for $3 each or $5/two slices. Eat more pie.
If entering the pie contest (no entry fee), drop off your homemade pies from 1 to 2 p.m. for judging.
