With all of the recalls that have been happening, Its time to take a PRO-ACTIVE stance. Awareness is a great thing, NOW lets do something about it. www.level4bio.com is there for a sound solution.
At the first Food Truck event Penelope Starr ("Telling Stories") and I chatted while we stood in the very long line for MaFooCo kimchi quesadillas (unusual combo). I no longer like kimchi having grown up with it due to an uncle who actually made & bottled it in Hawaii. And the Planet of the Crepes cuisine is one of my favorites. The first event was very popular w/ music & alcoholic drinks inside Dinnerware, and hopefully the weather will be okay tonight for this 2nd event!

Carolyn
Thanks for letting us know. I had planned to make it down there but instead ended up at Tucson Tamale Company after doing the Pit n' Proud walk around Reid Park.
I am hoping that this will be a regular monthly event.

Long lines still at the five food trucks tonight at Dinnerware. I stood in the MaFooCo one with Penelope Starr ("Telling Stories" blogger), waiting for Korean tacos or Kimchi Quesadillas (not sure what she was going to order). A guy told us the pineapple jalapeno popsicle was terrific from the Cyclopsicle cart. Also chatted with David Safier (Blog for AZ) and Mac Hudson (Ward 1 Council aide). Terrific, well attended event in downtown, with art, music & family fun. Hope David Aguirre repeats it.

Carolyn
I have not been to St. Philip's Plaza market in awhile but like to get Double Check grass fed meat when I do go. One of these days I'll try the new Santa Cruz location. I drove past the Broadway Village (Country Club/Broadway) farmers market on Friday at 9 a.m. and saw no sign of activity. For awhile farmers markets were popping up en masse and I just couldn't see how they could all be sustained. I was right; they can't be. When I go to a farmers market I want fresh vegetables not slivers of homemade soap or salsa. Those are secondary items. Farmers simply could not spend that much time away from farming. Now Allen's Organics seems to have the right idea.

I was surprised at the size of the St. Philip's Plaza farmer's market this summer, and the vendors told me it is usually larger in the cooler months. No wonder they won first place. I sometimes stop by the little farmer's market downtown (Wednesdays only) in front of the Joel D. Valdez Main Library, but it needs to increase in size and selection.
