Eat your CSA veggies
For the past four months the River Road Gardens has been hosting a farm stand and CSA (community supported agriculture). Their limit of shares is 50 and as of this writing they have about a dozen openings left for January or the first quarter of the year. Twelve weeks cost $275. You can pick up your share either Wednesdays or Saturdays.
River Road Garden is independently owned by the Jon McNamara family hosted on the grounds of the River Bend campus of the Tucson Waldorf School. Currently, the garden are looking for agro-volunteers to commit to four hours a week in exchange for a share. Also volunteers interested in helping now and then are also needed.
River Road Gardens is celebrating its first year in business by throwing a party. The urban CSA farm, in conjunction with the Tucson Waldorf School’s River Bend Campus, will have a daylong event including old fashioned games for the whole family, a farmer’s market, locally-made crafts, Waldorf toys, school supplies, food vendors, music, and raffle prizes.
Raffle prizes include a CSA share from River Road Gardens, one-hour massage from Lotus Massage & Wellness (I love their massages), gift basket from Arbico Organics, lunch for two at Feast, and more.
Hotel Congress will provide burgers off the grill.
The faire benefits the Tucson Waldorf School.
