Yes, it is very fortunenate that how women look or dress HAS ABSOLUTELY NO IMPLICATIONS ON THEIR ABILITY.

Now, if you want to talk about wearing boots and blue jeans while running your father's business into the dirt, or living in Houston or the east coast since graduation from High School- Or your contribution to Congress being "greening" the Army...Well o.k. then.

I’m very aware that there were over 50 new House members that came in with the 110th Congress. I worked with both the 110th Congress, as well as the 111th, and I had to familiarize myself with the new members both times. I also know that new members go through many experiences together and so they get to know each other pretty well. I saw Michele Bachmann and Gabrielle Giffords together – along with about 20 other new members of Congress – in 2007 so I know December 2010 was not the first time they met. In 2008 Michele Bachmann gave an interview in which she talked about having close Democratic friends and going out of the way to get to know the “other side.” She counted Dennis Kucinich as one of them. I’m not surprised that, given her effort to befriend the other party, that she became friends with Gabrielle Giffords too. She isn’t on the same committees as Dennis Kucinich but they still have a relationship. Just because people aren’t on the same committees doesn’t mean they don’t know each other. Also I’m not the one who said Michele Bachmann attended Gabrielle Giffords wedding. Michele Bachmann herself said it during an O’Reilly Factor interview. But if you have evidence to the contrary, then by all means provide it.

Indeed, I admire Gabby for her ability to pull the professional look off while still returning to her blue jeans and boots.

I've never understood why folks find Bachmann or Palin to be attractive or professional; they seem to be sort of made up fakes. To me it'd be more equal when women don't HAVE to 'make themselves up' to be considered leaders.

I'm betting the 'bagger' here is YOU...Gabby has had more of a presence in Arizona than many a Congressional rep in other districts...your information is sooo old not even jesse kelly used it against her.

There are tons of carpetbaggers nee snowbirds in Tucson but Gabby ain't one of them. You don't need any more evidence than for the place she's begging to go since she left.

I would definitely say that Gabrielle Giffords dressed to the part for her job. But we all know that isn't her natural attire. When not doing a public appearance or working from one of her offices, she was in jeans. Michele Bachman... I can't even compare to Giffords. She's strictly molded herself to the limelight and seems to be putting on a show 24/4, not only in her politics.

Just because you folks keep saying it, it doesn't make it true. Giffords is assuredly not a carpetbagger. She's a Tucsonan through and through. A modern woman can be married to a man and not have to live in the same state as him. You want a carpetbagger? Try McCain.

As far as the "greening" of the military, the military itself started working on that initiative first. Relying on oil supplies from countries that you're at war with is really not the best idea. Our military forces' dependence on oil means American men and women are exposed to unnecessary threats in defense of those oil supply lines. Military use of alternative energy saves lives.

Coming into Congress in same year doesn't mean they necessarily met each other, and it certainly doesn't mean they became friends. There were over 50 freshman members in the 110th Congress, they are from different parties, and they haven't been on any of the same committees. They probably had heard of the other, but it's entirely possible, and actually fairly likely, that they hadn't met before going on Greta Van Susteren's show.

The most likely scenario is that Bachmann said she's close friends with Giffords to score political points. Giffords is a sympathetic figure to the general public, and Bachmann wanted some of that to rub off on her. That is definitely something she would do, and a number of other politicians have done the same. And Giffords likely won't be in a position to dispute their claims in the future because it's something that she's probably not going to get asked about.

um so you're claiming that Bachmann was at Giffords' wedding? Evidence please?

Simply because you go thru an experience during the same time frame does not equate to friendship.

MANY congressional folk have come forth claiming 'friendship' with Giffords. Doesn't mean they are; more like the true political opportunists that everyone claims the dems are.

You may doubt that Bachmann would ever sully her own veracity, but I'm pretty sure she does so nearly every time she opens her mouth.
