Love your articles Sonja. You offer practical weight loss tips that are easy to follow. It's always the simple things that work best and moderation is the best way to avoid the Monday morning cardio confessional: those pointless and excessive workouts people do on Monday morning to try to make up for "bad eating" on the weekend.
Great job with your weight loss/maintenance.

This is true. If you don't totally disregard certain foods when trying to lose weight you will more likely succeed because your still enjoying the pleasure of eating. Just because you can't eat the whole cake doesn't mean you can't still enjoy it.

That is an awesome idea, Barker. My husband and I will do the same thing at Olive Garden -- order the lasagne (one item on their menu that doesn't have a large amount of fat & calories), eat the salad, then take the lasagne home. We'll do that at Carraba's, too! Endless ways to live thin in this world.

One thing we do is go to a restaurant like Ruby Tuesdays and order meals. We eat off the salad bar(which is nicely done and quite satisfying), and then take the entree home. We get two meals out of one entree order this way, without feeling like we've pigged out.

If you order an appetizer, share it with others on the table. Also, I only eat half my lunch order (as the portions are usually huge-- American size). Then I eat the other half for dinner. Food is fun, as you say.

Great ideas, Carolyn! I rarely order appetizers, either -- or order an appetizer as my entree. I also like to split a meal with my husband at a restaurant, since many entrees are so huge.
