You Gotta Laugh A Little: “Pinnochio” Babeau; UNCUT Abortion Clinic Video; KGUN vs. ALIPAC; Cunningham To Rehab; TPD At TCC
Friday, June 8th, 2012RUN ON THE BORDER
Protesters took to the streets in Florence, accusing Sheriff Babeau of grandstanding when a burned-out SUV in the area was shown to have no connection to Mexican drug smugglers.
Babeau repeatedly speculated that the crime was cartel-related, and that the grisly scene was “consistent with drug trafficking.”
Babeau also said he finds it ironic that the demonstrators have a problem with his rush to condemn border criminals, considering that some of those protesting are members of a group that “defends illegal immigrants.”
I myself find it ironic that a law-enforcement official up for re-election would try to boost his campaign by suggesting that his jurisdiction is constantly teeming with burned bodies.
FLORENCE NOT-INGALES?
Right-to-lifers, Live Action released video this week showing what they call illegal activity in two AZ women’s clinics — one of which is here in Tucson.
The extremist group, which has a history of undercover campaigns, claims that clinic staff knowingly allowed abortion schedulings to continue, despite the patient’s statement that she was only doing it because the unborn child was a girl.
However, the videos show the patient being told an abortion can not be performed based upon gender, beyond which, both clinics required the patient was required to sign paperwork clearly stating that gender is not a legally accepted reason for the procedure.
So… an anti-abortion group sent women in to get abortions? But then were upset when staff members attempted to uphold the law regarding said abortions? Plus, they signed legal documents stating that they were informed by the clinic that the procedure could not be performed based upon the sex of the baby? And then they publicly denounce the people whom they repeatedly deceived?
Yeah… right. Those shifty nurses should totally be ashamed of themselves.
SHOOTOUT AT THE KGUN CORRAL
Git t’ gittin’ Hatfields & McCoys — ’cause 200-year-old grudges ain’t got nothin’ on an Old Pueblo feud.
The first shot rang out in the KGUN 9 studios during a recent interview with CD 8 candidate Jesse Kelly — and has been ricocheting through the Kelly campaign, ALIPAC Facebook page, and KGUN 9 website ever since.
As these things play best to dueling banjo music, allow me to pen you a tune:
Ding, ding-ding-ding-ding-ding-ding-ding-dong…
Oh, KGUN 9, said ALIPAC / You have such a liberal knack,
Your questions are all loaded and you lie –
Oh, but ALIPAC, it’s true / KGUN has a job to do,
And frankly, all of this juvenile nonsense is counterproductive in general.
(Sorry, the rhyme kind of fell apart there. But you see my point.)
THE HANGOVER GAMES
Disgraced city council member Paul Cunningham went on record to admit his problem with alcohol. And decency. And respect for our community.
Now if we could only get TREO itself into rehab…
CONCERTED (LACK OF) EFFORT
Two TPD officers have been appointed to run Tucson Convention Center after allegations of fiscal shenanigans at the venue found their way to TPD Chief Villaseñor’s desk.
The placement amounts to a demotion for former TCC BMOC Tommy Obermaier, whose conduct in running the venue has been called to question by both local unions and the city manager’s office.
Meanwhile, the TCC bleachers are one good headbanger’s ball away from collapse.
Hey, City? Promising Tucsonans a night of martial law, followed by a spot in the mass grave? Probably not the best way to get folks downtown.
Locally, Vocally’s “You Gotta Laugh A Little” feature is strictly humorous commentary. 4 out of 5 dentists recommend you brush it off.
