Dining deals: elle
Always on the lookout for dining deals in the Old Pueblo, our latest story is on the happy hour at elle, a good choice for many reasons. Here are two: Not only is their happy hour daily, but it finds all items on the bar food menu half-off. And, as we found out, that includes the well-stocked cheese plates…

Hanson at the Rialto
Remember Hanson, those cute tweens with the “MMMbop” song? If so, you may be aware that the trio has been at it all this time and, after a fight with their record label, have been independent for years. They’re also all grown up (babies! all of them have babies!) and are headed to the Rialto Nov. 10. Read a Q&A with singer Taylor Hanson, who talks about comparisons to the Jonas brothers, playing with supergroup Tinted Windows and why he’s not sick of performing “MMMbop.”

News CDs! This week’s Tucson concerts!
Slayer! Carrie Underwood! Morrisey! I’m just so excited by all the new music, only multiple !!! will do. OK, maybe it’s all the coffee I’ve had this morning. But, either way, there’s some good stuff to check out in Metromix’s weekly New Music feature.
And, if you want it live, check out the weekly Tucson Concerts article. These are our picks for the best shows in town, on through Sunday. Things are pretty rock-heavy this week—not that there’s anything wrong with that—but our local, more atmospheric boys of Calexico close out the week with a special performance at the Rialto, which will be all decked out Day of the Dead-style to coincide with the All Souls Procession.

Nightmare on Congress Street photos
Halloween 2009 may be in the rearview mirror, but we have plenty of Nightmare on Congress Street photos. Hotel Congress provided the live music (on two stages) as well as contests, and Tucsonans brought the costumes (some clever, some head scratchers.)

2009 Arizona Underground Film Festival
Cult film lovers, this one’s for you. Six days of horror, exploitation, documentary, animation…it’s the second Arizona Underground Film Festival, held at various venues around town.
The Loft hosts actors William Forsythe as part of the festivities, along with a screening of “The Devil’s Rejects,” in which Forsythe plays a sheriff with a dark side. There’s also a free night of shorts at the Red Room, plus appearances by filmmakers and more! more! more! The fest folks—including local organizer David Pike—have really stepped it up, as the lineup looks truly amazing for B movie lovers. I’m there.

Cheap Eats review: Gooch’s Grill
Yes, the name isn’t so savory (check the urban dictionary if you’re not familiar with what “gooch” refers to), but the new UA eatery Gooch’s Grill has one darn good chili-cheese dog. It’s also in a prime location for grabbing a bite before or after a football game.
For all of your walkable options, we’ve put together a roundup of restaurants within one mile of Arizona Stadium.
