Border agent kills man west of Douglas

The shooting occurred about 3 p.m. Friday west of Douglas, said Rob Daniels, the spokesman for the patrol’s Tucson sector.
The agent, who was not identified, was taking seven suspected illegal immigrants into custody when he shot the man, Daniels said.
The victim, believed to be a Mexican man in his early 20s, died at the scene, Daniels said. The man’s identity was not released.
The agent was placed on paid administrative leave while the shooting is investigated, Daniels said. The Cochise County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the shooting, he said.
