Child run over by baby sitter
by Ryn Gargulinski on Jan. 25, 2007, under Local, SpecialA 4-year-old girl was killed when her baby sitter ran her over with an Isuzu Trooper Thursday afternoon, a Pima County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman said.
The incident occurred in the 5200 block of South Spencer Avenue, where the 45-year-old baby sitter lives and was caring for two children, Pima County Sheriff Deputy Dawn Barkman said.
The baby sitter was backing her vehicle out of the driveway, Barkman said, when the 4-year-old ended up underneath it.
The child was airlifted to University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, Barkman said.
“It’s way too early in the investigation to determine what is going to happen here,” Barkman said about possible charges.
