Our Opinion: Doughnuts at Le Cave’s tops

by on Jun. 15, 2007, under Opinion

We may have lost our Krispy Kreme stores. But so what? Tucson still has one of the nation’s top doughnut destinations.

Food writer Ed Levine bestowed the honor on Le Cave’s Bakery in his survey of “America’s Best Doughnuts.”

Home of the “original vegetable glazed donut” since 1935, Le Cave’s, 1219 S. Sixth Ave., was the only purveyor of doughnuts in the Southwest listed in the Serious Eats National Doughnut Honor Roll.

Don’t bother asking for the recipe. It’s been a family secret for four generations. But believe us, they’re worth the calories.
