Westward remodeling; first phase to cost $10M
Westward Look Resort has begun the $10-million first phase of a remodeling project to update and upgrade all of the resort’s guest rooms, the lobby area, and the Catalina and Sonoran Ballrooms.

In addition to new furnishings, rooms and meeting areas will get technology updates. Beds in the renovated rooms will be custom built by Sealy Posturepedic.

Phase one is expected to be completed in April. Phase two is in the planning stage.

Jeweler hits it big by going online
Local jeweler Lisa Krikawa has reached sales of more than $1 million, largely through online sales.

Krikawa Jewelry Designs, which specializes in one-of-a-kind engagement and wedding rings, has more than 98 percent of its sales through Web-based commerce.

Founder and owner Lisa Krikawa is a 1997 graduate of the jewelry and metalsmithing program at the University of Arizona. Her company did not have a positive net income until she launched the Web site in 2002.
