Woman dies after last month’s collision with city garbage truck
by Jason Redmond on Mar. 09, 2008, under Local, SpecialA woman injured in a collision with a city of Tucson garbage truck on Feb. 28 died Friday, Tucson Police Officer Linda Galindo said in a press statement.
The woman, 22-year-old Alejandrina C. Padias, was taken off life support Friday, the statement said.
Padias was turning left onto North Camino Seco in a 2002 Nissan Sentra from westbound East Broadway and into the path of the garbage truck traveling eastbound, the statement said.
Padias, her passengers and the driver of the garbage truck, Gilbert Robles, were taken to University Medical Center, Tucson police Sgt. Fabian Pacheco said.
Robles was treated for minor injuries and released, the statement said.
The passengers in Padias’ car were treated and released, the statement said.
No citations were issued and no alcohol or drugs played a factor in the collision, the statement said.
