Hearing on Wrightstown closure moved to March 27

The date for Tucson Unified School District’s public hearing on school closures at Wrightstown Elementary has been changed to March 27. The previous date was March 19.

The change was made because the district received complaints that the 19th is the first day of spring break and some people would not be available to attend, said TUSD spokeswoman Chyrl Hill Lander.

The hearing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the school at 8950 E. Wrightstown Road.

At the hearing and four others, the public is invited to comment on the recommendation to close four elementary schools.

The first of those meetings is Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rincon High School’s auditorium, 421 N. Arcadia Blvd.

The elementary schools up for possible closure in addition to Wrightstown are Corbett, Ochoa and Rogers.

The other meetings are:

• Corbett: 5 to 7 p.m. March 17 at Corbett, 5949 E. 29th St.

• Rogers: 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., March 17, at Rogers, 6000 E. 14th St.

• Ochoa: 6 to 8 p.m. March 18 at Ochoa, 101 W. 25th St.

While the hearings are at the specific schools set for closure, the public may speak about any of the schools at any of the hearings.
