UApresents posted a net gain of $90,370 last season, the second straight year-end surplus for the arts group.

Nine sold-out shows helped boost revenues for the fiscal year that ended June 30, officials from the University of Arizona organization reported this week.

Another jump is likely next season, with advance ticket sales up by 12 percent from the same period a year ago, UApresents said.

To trim costs more, the group last month laid off three employees: two worked full time and one part time.

Its deficit rose to nearly $1 million after six straight years of losses.

UApresents secured a $1.2 million loan from UA and began its turnaround last year, with a nearly $99,000 surplus.
