Boy, 8, electrocuted during storm at Reid Park
by Sheryl Kornman on Jul. 26, 2008, under Local, SpecialAn 8-year-old boy was killed Friday night when lightning struck a pole he was standing next to at Reid Park, authorities said.
Tucson Fire Department spokeswoman Trish Tracy said the boy was a fan at a youth baseball game.
The boy was injured about 6:45 p.m. and was pronounced dead just after 7:30 at University Medical Center, said Tucson police spokesman Sgt. Mark Robinson.
Robinson said the city is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death because it occurred on city property.
More information, including the boy’s name, wasn’t available late Friday night.
