Tucson business chamber endorses candidates

The Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce endorsed state Sen. Tim Bee, a Tucson Republican, for the U.S. House District 8 seat over incumbent Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, a Tucson Democrat.

The chamber announced its endorsements Tuesday for Congress as well as state Legislature races.

“Tim Bee has been an outstanding leader in the Arizona State Senate,” Chamber President Jack Camper said. “He’s been a terrific president of the Senate. He knows how to compromise. He understands business issues.”

For state Senate, the chamber endorsed Republican Mary Ann Black for District 25, Republican Al Melvin for District 26, Republican Bob Westerman for District 27, Democrat Paula Aboud for District 28, Democrat Linda Lopez for District 29 and Republican Jonathan Paton for District 30.

For state House, the endorsements went to Democrat Richard Boyer for District 25; Republican Vic Williams and Democrat Don Jorgensen for District 26; Democrats Olivia Cajero Bedford and Phil Lopes for District 27; Democrats David Bradley and Steve Farley for District 28; Republican Juan Ciscomani, Republican Pat Kilburn and Democrat Matt Heinz for District 29; and Republicans Frank Antenori and David Gowen for District 30.

The chamber also endorsed Republican Barney Brenner for the District 3 seat on the Pima County Board of Supervisors, and Republicans Marian McClure, Bob Stump and Barry Wong for the Arizona Corporation Commission.
