The motorist involved in a fatal collision with a motorcycle in Marana on Wednesday has been charged with manslaughter and driving under the influence. Jacob Michael Hatzenbuhler, 17, died at the crash scene.
Wendy Sue Anderson, 42, of Marana was booked into Pima County Jail yesterday.
She also faces charges of aggravated assault and felony criminal damage, said Sgt. Jim Ogden, a Pima County Sheriff’s Department spokesman.
Anderson was northbound on North Trico Road near West Silverbell Road at 8:18 p.m. when her 1985 Honda skidded into the path of Lee Francis Hatzenbuhler, Ogden said.
Hatzenbuhler, 49, who was driving, and his son, Jacob Michael, were thrown from the motorcycle, Ogden said.
Lee Hatzenbuhler was taken by helicopter to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Hospital officials said he was in critical condition yesterday.
The Hatzenbuhlers, both of Marana, were not wearing helmets, Ogden said.
Ogden said Anderson was found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
Deputies served a search warrant on her body to get a blood sample.
After initially refusing medical treatment, Anderson was taken to University Medical Center for treatment and was arrested upon her release.
