The Associated Press

PHOENIX – The Phoenix Suns signed draft pick Jackson Vroman yesterday.

The Suns acquired the 31st pick, along with a future conditional first-round draft pick and cash from the Chicago Bulls, in exchange for the draft rights to Luol Deng.

Vroman, a forward-center, played his final two collegiate seasons at Iowa State. He had the school’s second all-time high field goal percentage at .558 and ninth all-time in blocked shots at 70.

Grizzlies’ Bell injured

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis Grizzlies guard Troy Bell had knee surgery yesterday after injuring himself during a summer camp workout a day earlier.

Bell, a first-round draft pick out of Boston College, suffered a lateral meniscus tear in his left knee during a workout Thursday.

He is expected to miss two months.

Bell missed much of his first season with the Grizzlies due to injuries, playing only six games.

T’wolves hire Stack

MINNEAPOLIS – The Minnesota Timberwolves hired New York Knicks advance scout Jim Stack as their general manager yesterday.

Stack replaces Rob Babcock, who left last month to become Toronto’s general manager.

Before joining the Knicks last season, Stack spent three years as an assistant coach with the Indiana Pacers. He spent 13 years with the Chicago Bulls before that in a variety of positions, including being the team’s assistant vice president of basketball operations for the last four years.

Our Digital Archive

This blog page archives the entire digital archive of the Tucson Citizen from 1993 to 2009. It was gleaned from a database that was not intended to be displayed as a public web archive. Therefore, some of the text in some stories displays a little oddly. Also, this database did not contain any links to photos, so though the archive contains numerous captions for photos, there are no links to any of those photos.

There are more than 230,000 articles in this archive.

In TucsonCitizen.com Morgue, Part 1, we have preserved the Tucson Citizen newspaper's web archive from 2006 to 2009. To view those stories (all of which are duplicated here) go to Morgue Part 1
