Sonoita-area residents found the body of a man near their home Sunday afternoon, Border Patrol officials said.

Border agents responded to a call just before 12:30 p.m. Sunday about a possible dead body off state Route 83, near Milepost 41, spokesman Michael Scioli said.

The residents walked outside their home and found the body of a man, believed to be in his 30s and lacking identification, he said.

The body had no apparent signs of trauma, he said.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department was at the scene and will take over the investigation, Scioli said.

From October 2007 to the end of August, the Border Patrol recovered 157 bodies in its Tucson Sector, he said.

The total number of bodies found in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30 has not been released, and Scioli said the number for the current fiscal year was unavailable.

Our Digital Archive

This blog page archives the entire digital archive of the Tucson Citizen from 1993 to 2009. It was gleaned from a database that was not intended to be displayed as a public web archive. Therefore, some of the text in some stories displays a little oddly. Also, this database did not contain any links to photos, so though the archive contains numerous captions for photos, there are no links to any of those photos.

There are more than 230,000 articles in this archive.

In TucsonCitizen.com Morgue, Part 1, we have preserved the Tucson Citizen newspaper's web archive from 2006 to 2009. To view those stories (all of which are duplicated here) go to Morgue Part 1
