DEL GUIDICE, Louise, 83, died July 28, 2001. Survived by daughter, Carmella Ann (Ray) Scott; sons, Ralph (Maureen) Del Guidice and Vincent Del Guidice; grandchildren, Sharon Lurtsema, Derek Lurtsema, Ryan Del Guidice and Serena Del Guidice; sister, Julia Vella and brothers, Angelo Del Monte and Anthony Del Monte. Kenneth Alan Dillard
Born April 22, 1960 in Pasadena, TX. Passed away July 29, 2001 in Tucson, AZ. Ken is survived by his wife, Shari; his two children, Jessica and Kenneth Dillard; his parents, Eula and Kenneth Dillard; his brothers, Jim, David, Doug, Michael, and Tracy of Seattle, WA; as well as many family and friends. Ken served as a decorated Tucson Police Officer for 17 years. Ken was taken from us much too soon and will be greatly missed. Services will be held at Casas Adobes Baptist Church, at the Northwest Worship Center on Friday, August 3 at 9:00 a.m. and Services will follow at 10:00 a.m. An additional Service will be held in Seattle, WA.
DUARTE, Manuel J. ”Canicas”, 57, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away July 31, 2001. Survived by wife, Julia Duarte; aunt, Maria Moreno; stepfather, Guillermo Gomez; daughters, Librada (Kenneth) Loop, Andrea (Roy) Rios, Melissa, Jamie and Ashley Duarte; sons, Manuel Duarte II and Christopher Duarte; sisters, Aida (Pete) Salomon, Malena (Manuel) Miranda, Laura Gomez, Patricia (Marty) Peru, Lucy (Manny) Sandoval and Lupita Gomez; brothers, Guillermo, Mario, Robert and Ernesto (Priscilla) Gomez. Also survived by five grandchildren, numerous loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 03, 2001 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO’S TUCSON MORTUARY (South Chapel), 240 S. EDWARD J. FRINK, SR.
82, passed away on July 30, 2001, he was born on March 12, 1919 in Essex, Iowa.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jewell and one sister, Barbara.
He is survived by his three children, Edward Jr. of Hershey, PA, Spencer of Tampa, FL and Thomas of Tucson, AZ, and four grandchildren.
He graduated from Redfield High School in Redfield, IA. He worked in Civil Service for 33 years, most recently as a logistics officer for the Department of the Air Force. During WWII, he served in both Egypt and India. He retired in 1973. He was active for many years as a Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts. He moved to Tucson in 1984. He was active in the choir at Catalina United Methodist Church for many years and served as a volunteer at UMC. He was world traveler and an avid historian.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2001 at 11:00am at Catalina United Methodist Church, 2700 E. Speedway. Contributions may be made to Catalina United Methodist Church or the American Diabetes Association.
GASKILL, Carrie, October 15, 1915 to July 30, 2001. The daughter of Elmer and Olive Jenks, LaCoss, WI.
Carrie was preceded in death by her husband, Earl W. Gaskill and her two daughters, Sherry Lou Graham-Durant and Sandra K. Foster from Tucson.
Carrie is survived by her sons, Eugene Gaskill and wife Pat from Tucson, Robert Gaskill and wife Sue Washington, and Darrell Gaskill and wife Cathy also from Tucson.
Carrie’s life was her love of family with 22 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Mother and grandmother, she will be remembered for her love and talent of crafts that will forever fill our hearts and homes.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, August 3, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY.
HESS, Lawrence W., age 84, died Tuesday, July 31, 2001. EDNA M. KOLBELL
85, passed away on July 4, 2001, in Tucson, AZ. She was born August 19, 1915 to Charles and Augusta Calamia in Jersey City, NJ. Throughout her life, Edna vigorously dedicated her time and energy to assisting others. She served on the advisory board for the Salvation Army of NY, taught Sunday School for many years, and was a troop leader for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. Upon moving to Arizona in in 1978, she volunteered as a teacher’s aide at Donaldson Elementary School and then at Sts. Peter and Paul School. Edna gave generously of her time to Northwest Interfaith Council, the Ara Parseghian Foundation, and many organizations at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, where she faithfully attended. She was an enthusiastic bridge player, and delighted in weekly bridge games with her dear friends.
Edna is survived by her daughter, Karen (Ron) Hess of Tucson, AZ; sons, Dr. Richard (Patricia) Kolbell of Portland, OR and Rev. Erik (Ann) Kolbell of New York, NY; grand- daughters, Amanda Hess of Phoenix, AZ, Melissa Hess of Tucson, AZ, and Kate Kolbell of New York, NY.

MELLEN, Betty R., 74, died August 1, 2001 after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Evanoff and Debra Graves; and by three grandchildren; sister, Dolores Diehl of Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews. MOORE, Mary Virginia, 85, an Arizona resident for 51 years was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1916 and died in Phoenix, Arizona on July 29, 2001. Her deceased husband, J. Erben Moore, was a Methodist minister who organized Velda Rose Methodist Church in Mesa, Arizona, and also pastored churches in Tucson, Arizona. In addition to assisting her husband in his duties, Mary Virginia was an artist and craftsperson, and had co-authored two books. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mesa and was a past member of the Mesa, Chandler, and Tempe Art Leagues. She is survived by her loving family: daughter and son-in-law, Mary Jo and Dick Mason of San Angelo, Texas; granddaughter, Judy Barber; grandsons, Jeryl, Jon and Jerry Mason; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was also loved and survived by her nephew and his wife, M. Kent and Ruth Ann Moore, of Paradise Valley, Arizona. Private services will be held in Texas.

TSCHANZ, Barbara Munson, born August 13, 1931. On August 1, 2001, Barbara left us. We wanted her to stay but the Lord called her & she obeyed. She is survived by her husband, Robert; her three daughters, Jody, Tracy & Barry; & her four grandchildren.
UBINGER, William (Bill), March 10, 1917 to July 30, 2001. Preceded in death by daughter, Earlene Bulman June 7, 2000. Survived by wife, Nancy; daughter, Vicki (Bill) McPheron; son, Glenn Snyder of Brevard, NC; granddaughter, Kim (Eddie) Wise; grandsons, Josh McPheron, and, Scott, Eric and Kenny Snyder of Brevard, NC; sister, Lillian Spoonhoward, Irwin, PA; brother, Gilbert (Ange) Ubinger, Jeannette, PA. He was a member of Southwest Wood Carvers since 1988, also Western Whittlers, N.W.C.A. He was retired from Federal Civil Service. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. He was the best husband, father and grandfather in the world.
WILKINSON, Fredrick E., 79, of Tucson, died July 30, 2001.
