Gov’t shut down over Obamacareby Denise Early on Oct. 07, 2013, under Health
In the Sunday New York Times, there was a story about how we got to a government shutdown over killing Obamacare.
“Shortly after President Obama started his second term, a loose-knit coalition of conservative activists led by former Attorney General Edwin Meese III gathered in the capital to plot strategy. Their push to repeal Mr. Obama’s health care law was going nowhere, and they desperately needed a new plan,” the New York Times reports.
“Out of that session, held one morning in a location the members insist on keeping secret, came a little-noticed ‘blueprint to defunding Obamacare,’ signed by Mr. Meese and leaders of more than three dozen conservative groups.”
“It articulated a take-no-prisoners legislative strategy that had long percolated in conservative circles: that Republicans could derail the health care overhaul if conservative lawmakers were willing to push fellow Republicans — including their cautious leaders — into cutting off financing for the entire federal government.”
Read the entire story and learn how billionaires have been plotting to keep middle class Americans from getting affordable health insurance. It is sad and scary at the same time.
On a Sunday morning news show, Rand Paul had a new line, saying it’s not so much about Obamacare as about deficits and how Obamacare adds to the deficit. The senator left out the fact that Obamacare is paid for by new taxes paid by insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, and medical device companies that will benefit from 30 million more Americans having health insurance. I recently wrote about the funding of Obamacare.
Perhaps Rand Paul should read my blog post about how Obamacare is funded – but facts don’t matter to him and his billionaire puppetmasters. I have a feeling we should be worried about the upcoming fight over the debt ceiling. It seems clear that the billionaires who tell Republicans what to do will stop at nothing to kill Obamacare.
