If you are searching for something to do this weekend (in New Mexico), the Roswell UFO Festival might be the perfect activity for your Independence Day holiday. Live music, barbecues, and beer are available every night, with fireworks on the evening of 4th at Cielo Grande Park.

The alien-themed celebration kicked off yesterday and will continue through Monday, July 5th. The festival boasts celebrity guests Julian Sands and Adrienne Barbeau. Sands’ career includes parts in Arachnophobia, Boxing Helena and Warlock. Barbeau is remembered for her work in Creepshow, The Fog and Swamp Thing.

If you aren’t starstruck by human life forms, there are plenty of other extraterrestrial…er, extracurricular activities. Each day is jam packed with food, drink, lectures and activities. One lecture features the Fire in the Sky alien-abducted-but-returned-to-earth Travis Walton, who discusses life 35 years after his abduction. Yes, he is a human life form, but how do we know he isn’t a double sent back in place of the real Travis Walton, like Alien Burt?

(For those who don’t know, I’m referring to the alien abduction/Alien Burt storyline in “Soap”, ABC Network sitcom, 1977 – 1981.)
