In a disturbing news out of Australia, thrill-seeking teens have taken to driving at dangerous speeds to conjure up a rumored ghost.

According to the tale that has intrigued the teens, when a vehicle hits 111 mph along Lemon Tree Passage Road, it is said that a motorcycle ghost will appear in the rear view mirror.

The road between New Castle and Sydney has been the backdrop for many YouTube videos posted by teens trying to prove the tale to be real. The videos have actually captured a white light behind the speeding cars when the vehicles are said to hit that specific speed.

The ghost could very well be a very much alive motorcycle rider playing a prank on local teens and having a jolly good time doing it. It appears as though the teens are having fun endangering the lives of themselves and others on these paranormal inspired joy rides.

Local police, of course, are not having a good time and are not happy at all about this dangerous ghost hunting trend. They do aim to stop it.

A police spokseman has issued a statement for speeders: “We want speeding drivers to know that the only bright light they’ll be seeing in their rear windows will be the red and blue lights of a police car.”

Although several videos are available for viewing, the videos are unsuitable to post.

This is due to the extreme profanity that spews out of the mouths of the screaming and speeding teens in the videos.

If profanity and screaming teens don’t bother you, you can easily find these videos by typing “Lemon Tree Passage Ghost” on YouTube.

Mass UFO sightings were again reported in China on August 7th, exactly one month after Hangzhou’s Xiaoshan Airport was shut down.

The latest UFOs in China were seen at different times on that day in Shanghai, Zhejiang, Nanjing and Ganzhou of Jiangxi Province. These latest sightings have prompted People’s Daily Online to seek the expert and rational advice of Zhu Jim, the vice chairman of the Beijing UFO Research Organization.

The expert urges the people of China to employ the skill of “rational analysis” when looking toward the sky.

Of course, the media attention is suspected of making matters worse in China. The article states: “The concentrative reporting from the media amplified the events and certain media groups were even suspected of hyping up the news.”

Hyped up news or not, the expert offers a very interesting introductory lesson in UFOs, emphasizing the distinct differences between UFOs and flying saucers. He offers rational explanations for most sightings and offers many explanations for them that most people wouldn’t think of, from kites to insects. It says, “…most UFO events can be explained by rational reason through systematic investigation and comprehensive analysis.”

The problem is that kites and insects aren’t usually the cause of airport shutdowns.

Please take a moment to read this most informative article from People’s Daily Online.

Expert: Most UFO incidents have reasonable explanations

There have been many recent reports of UFO sightings in many different regions and the latest incident involved netizens from Shanghai, Zhejiang, Nanjing and Ganzhou of Jiangxi Province, who claimed they saw UFOs all at different times on Aug. 7.

Along with the continual media coverage, public attention also heated up, and some people even connected it with the recent abnormal weather and natural pits in many regions, and claimed the world would end in 2012. All of a sudden, different rumors are everywhere.

A reporter from People’s Daily interviewed Zhu Jin, the curator of the Beijing Planetarium and vice chairman of the Beijing UFO Research Organization. He gave professional explanations about these incidents.

While I was enjoying a nice cup of coffee in my motel room in beautiful La Jolla, California, I had a good chuckle over the latest “China UFO” news.

So, now I have to share.

Remember last month when we heard about that UFO sighting in China? You know, the sighting on July 7th that caused that hour-long shutdown of the Xiaoshan Airport in China. The one that also coincided with the anniversary of the Roswell incident.

Yes, that’s the one.

Since the airport authorities in Hangzhou couldn’t come up with an answer other than a UFO, a team of UFO experts from Shanghai stepped in to investigate the matter a week later. Then, also a week later, the mainstream media decided to start covering the “UFO in China” news, since some of them didn’t think that bloggers were capable of covering the story.

We all thought that the case was closed when the experts concluded that it was just a private plane that shut down the airport.

This private plane theory did not satisfy UFO enthusiasts (or anyone else). We all had a good chuckle over that explanation, but we did manage to move on with our lives.

So, not leaving well enough alone, and to further support the private plane explanation from the UFO experts, the media in China then released a news story about those pesky private plane flying billionaires. They said that those billionaires fly all over the place in their private planes without first filing flight plans. While the billionaires have caused flights to be diverted in the past, they’ve never managed to shut down an airport.

Well, they didn’t until July, they said.

It was a more creative explanation and it didn’t insult our intelligence too badly. At least it wasn’t another weather balloon that shut down the airport.

It wasn’t just us in the United States who felt that something just wasn’t right about that private plane explanation. The explanation also didn’t satisfy critical thinkers in China. So, the debate continues.

UFO researcher, Professor Wang, has a theory about that private plane. If you recall, Professor Wang recently predicted more UFO sightings to come in 2011 and 2012. So, professor Wang weighed in about the private plane theory.

As reported by Chinanews.com.cn:

According to Wang Sichao, a researcher from the Purple Mountain Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the UFO that encroached on the airspace of Xiaoshan airport in Hangzhou flew at a height of one kilometer from the ground. It might be some special aircraft, such as a plane, or some rapid, noiseless or low-noise aircraft.

Wang also believes that the UFO was unlikely to be some typical domestic plane or overseas plane. Also, it could not be cruise missile or rocket fragments.

So, are those billionaires now buying unusual private planes that can be mistaken for UFOs? We’ll keep monitoring the news out of China and see what they come up with.

Kudos to Professor Wang that he continues to search for answers related to this incident, since he also knows that the private plane theory isn’t quite convincing enough. So, the special plane theory could explain why airport officials thought that the plane could be a UFO, and caused an airport shutdown because of it.

Of course, we still haven’t heard anything new about that UFO sighting in Chongqing that occurred a week after the Xiaoshan airport incident.

At least some people have grown tired of keeping a lid on things, or having to come up with lame explanations to satisfy the critical thinkers. For example, we recently learned that Winston Churchill once ordered a UFO “cover up”. Also, according to the Associated Press yesterday, Brazil’s air force has been ordered to document UFO sightings and to make the data available to the public.

In fact, they are just going to disclose all of it in Brazil: “All past and future data — whether written reports, photos or video — will be processed by the air force and then housed in the National Archives in Rio de Janeiro.”

The Telegraph (UK) reports that betting officials have slashed the odds that either Prime Minister David Cameron or President Barack Obama would admit that aliens exist within one year from placing the bet, from 100/1 to 80/1.

Betting officials have experienced a surge of bets after the declassification of files that show that Winston Churchill banned a “bizarre” UFO incident from disclosure. Churchill issued the order due to fears of mass hysteria and loss of faith in religion.

The incident in question involved a reconnaissance plane and its crew that was approached by a metallic UFO, which subsequently shadowed them on the English coast.

The files in question can be viewed online at the UK National Archives.

A spokesperson from William Hill, one of the largest bookmakers in the UK, says: “We have had loads of calls. There are thousands of believers out there many of whom are putting their money on an imminent announcement.”

On a related note, Bet or Trade reports that William Hill has teamed up with the Fortean Times for a paranormal photo competition. You can earn four figures if your photo is selected. There are three categories in which you can enter your photos: extraterrestrial, paranormal and cryptozoological.

Things just get more and more interesting on the UFO front.

BBC News UK reports today that Winston Churchill ordered a UFO cover-up to prevent “mass panic”.

Churchill ordered UFO cover-up, National Archives show

The government took the threat of UFOs so seriously in the 1950s that UK intelligence chiefs met to discuss the issue, newly-released files show.

Ministers even went on to commission weekly reports on UFO sightings from a committee of intelligence experts.

The papers also include a wartime account claiming prime minister Winston Churchill ordered a UFO sighting be kept secret to prevent “mass panic”.

The files show reports of UFOs peaked in 1996 – when The X Files was popular.

The Joint Intelligence Committee is better known for providing briefings to the government on matters relating to security, defence and foreign affairs.

But the latest batch of UFO files released from the Ministry of Defence to the National Archives shows that, in 1957, the committee received reports detailing an average of one UFO sighting a week.

A new alien-invasion action movie is coming to theaters next year.

The film Battle: Los Angeles is inspired by an actual UFO event that occurred on February 25, 1942.

Before director and starring information are shared, it’s important to review the event in history.

The Battle of Los Angeles, as it is now referred to in history, involved a large scale anti-aircraft artillery barrage against a target that subsequently remained unidentified.

The Battle of Los Angeles took place a couple of months after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941. In the early morning hours of February 25th when the air raid siren awoke residents, many were expecting to see Japanese fighter planes.

1942 Battle of Los Angeles

The Army’s 37th Coast Artillery Brigade initiated a blackout, then lit up the skies with massive spotlights to reveal something that had never been seen before. It is said that the object was giant and hovered over the city, witnessed by hundreds of people – military and civilians alike.

According to newspaper reports, the UFO looked like a “surreal, hanging, magic lantern.”

What struck some witnesses the most was the color of the object.

“It was a lovely pale orange and about the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen. I could see it perfectly because it was very close. It was big!”

“I’ll never forget what a magnificent sight it was. Just marvelous. And what a gorgeous color!”

The photo, of course, is black and white, so we can’t see the color from it.

Regardless of what it looked like, the military did fire upon the object. Hundreds of rounds hit the object, but it remained undamaged as far as everyone could tell on the ground. However, six people on the ground weren’t as fortunate as the object. They were killed by shell fragments during this battle, which took place amid businesses and residences.

There was no Internet back then to spread the news. This was during the war. Project Sign didn’t begin until 1947 – five years later. Project Grudge didn’t begin until 1949. Project Blue Book started ten years later in 1952.

The movie, “Battle: Los Angeles” is described as “Black Hawk Down” meets “Independence Day” by many and is an “intense real-time” war movie. What is known so far about it, is that the movie focuses on a Marine staff Sargeant (Aaron Eckhart) whose platoon battles against an alien invasion in Los Angeles.

The 1942 event is referred to on the movie website, but don’t expect a documentary, it appears that the movie is only inspired by the 1942 incident.

The promotion of the movie is in full swing with a website, promotional movie posters, a Facebook page and You Tube clips.

The interesting thing about the promotion of the film, is that not much more about the actual film is being promoted at this time. Instead, on the website and on YouTube, historical UFO events are brought to the forefront in the form of short interviews about UFOs with MUFON, evidence of UFO incidents, and the like.

It feels like UFO and alien tutorials, to prepare us for what’s coming in 2011.

The promotion for the film is certainly different and intriguing.

Jonathan Liebsman directs the film. Michelle Rodriguez, Micheal Pena and Bridget Moynahan also star in the film. Look for the film to hit theaters on March 11, 2011.

China has been the location of 8 UFO sightings over the last couple of months. One of the sightings caused the Xiaoshan Airport to be shut down for an hour on July 7th.

Some UFOs were since identified as normal earthly objects. Others remain unidentified.

If we think that the people of China have had their fair share of major sightings, we haven’t seen anything yet, according to a researcher in China.

Professor Wang of the Purple Mountain Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has a theory about UFO sightings. He thinks that China could bear witness even more UFO sightings over the next two years.

Based on 39 years of research, Professor Wang discovered a pattern. He found that July and August are the best months for viewing, generally after 10:00 pm. Wang also stated that major UFO sightings tend to occur in years ending with numbers 1, 2 or 7.

Is there anything to that theory? We won’t have long to wait before we find out. The years 2011 and 2012 are just around the corner.

Since posting the article about the Malaysia UFO, and the submitted blurry photograph as a separate post, I have received emails from readers in Malaysia who feel that I dismissed the Malaysia UFO photo too quickly.

I posted the one reader submitted photo on my blog and dismissed it as a cloud.

Rarely will I post photographs into my articles. Photographs can be easily manipulated. I do sometimes post photos to showcase locations that I write about. Sometimes, I post them as examples rather than evidence. On occasion, I will provide a link to readers to view a photo on another website.

To be fair, I am not a meteorologist, so my assessment of the object as a cloud or sun dog is only the evaluation of an amateur. Also, I am not a photographic expert, though I see what I see and form my own opinion as a result.

While mulling over the decision over whether to post reader submitted items, I had to ask myself if I actually know what a UFO from somewhere in outer space looks like. No, I don’t. I do know what Hollywood’s various representations of a UFO looks like. During a recent debate on the subject, I asserted that if extraterrestrials exist and if they are so technologically advanced to travel here, they could make their airship resemble an airplane to stay under the radar, so to speak. On the other hand, maybe they are really tiny and their craft is no bigger than a shoebox.

To be fair, most, if not all of us, really have no clue what a UFO from outer space might look like.

Last night, a reader in Malaysia contacted me and provided four items: a blog post, a Borneo Post article, a clearer photo of the Malaysia UFO and a zoomed in version of the object in question. Rather than incorporate those items into an article, I decided to publish reader submitted evidence in another location on my blog.

On the upper left side of your screen is a new section within Paranormal Old Pueblo: Reader Submissions. A link under this heading reads: “July 2010“.

I will do my best to keep this section updated for those who wish to submit photos or other evidence. I don’t guarantee that I will devote an article to the evidence submitted, however.

You can submit whatever you would like related to the paranormal: UFOs, Ghosts, Cryptozoology, Psychic Phenomena, Lost Treasure, etc.

To submit any evidence you would like to share with your fellow readers, feel free to email me.

CNN’s Headline reads:

“UFOs over China? Not quite, analyst says”

The article link reads: http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/asiapcf/07/20/china.ufo.debunked/index.html

The article starts out by reporting:

“Those probably were not UFOs that hovered over China recently, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology analyst said.”

What this article is about is the photos of the reported UFO over China. The photos that made headlines in most mainstream media news outlets were phony. Photos were never posted here on the Tucson Citizen.

The article goes on to misinform by stating that the Chongqing UFO was sighted a day after the UFO that shut down the Xiaoshan Airport. It was sighted a week later.

The CNN comment section is buzzing about the UFO event being debunked. It was not. The photos published were debunked.

There has been no statement from China stating whether the object was, in fact, a military craft, missile, rocket or anything else.

After posting in the comments section twice about the incorrect span of time between UFO sightings, the article remains incorrect.

UPDATE 2:33 PM: The word “images” appears more in the article and a Google News search now reads: “Analyst: China UFO images likely fake”…but the Chongqing sighting still listed as a day later than the airport shutdown, not a week later.

UPDATE: 3:50 PM: Still no date correction for CNN…but it gets better! Pravda reports China UFO incident for a week ago! Pravda states it happened on July 14th!

“Last week an Unidentified Flying Object disrupted traffic at Xiaoshan Airport in the PR China. The incident happened late last Wednesday night, July 14. 18 flights, involving 2,000 passengers were affected by the apparition, which was seen by several eye-witnesses (see photo) but which did not show up on the airport’s radar system.”

Left a comment asking them to correct the date.
