Library Speed Sharing pairs meeting new people with mini-reviews of favorite books, movies, CDs

by on Feb. 01, 2012, under Pima County, Public Library, Tucson

Looking for a hot date with a book, movie or CD this Valentine’s Day? Want to meet new people without struggling to make small talk?

Look no farther than your local library!

In preparation for Love of Reading Week (Feb. 13-17), the Martha Cooper and Flowing Wells branches of the Pima County Public Library will host special Library Speed Sharing events on Thursday, Feb. 9.

In the same round-robin rotation as speed dating, participants will share some of their favorite library items and get to know each other during a series of one-on-one, 3-minute conversations. Participants are encouraged to bring their favorite book, movie, or CD.

Participants who aren’t persuaded by the recommendations of others will be able to choose from some specially wrapped and labeled “blind date” items for checkout.

Speed sharing will happen from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Flowing Wells Branch Library, 1730 W. Wetmore Road, and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Martha Cooper Branch Library, 1377 N. Catalina Ave.

The events are free and open to the public.
