Pima County invites you to find your new best friend at Tucson Meet Yourself Oct. 12-14

by on Oct. 02, 2012, under Pima Animal Care Center, Pima County, Southern Arizona, Tucson

You might just find your best snuggle buddy yet at the Tucson Meet Yourself festival this year.

The kind with fur, wet noses and sloppy kisses, that is.

Whether you’re looking for a jogging partner, a walking buddy or just a great companion, dogs from Pima Animal Care Center will be looking for new homes all three days of the festival, in front of the Joel D. Valdez Main Library downtown, 101 N. Stone Ave.

The festival runs from Friday, Oct. 12, to Sunday, Oct. 14.

“There will be many great performances to see at Tucson Meet Yourself, but I still think our dogs will be the stars of the show,” said Jayne Cundy, public services supervisor at Pima Animal Care, www.pimaanimalcare.org/.

Three other areas that help enhance the quality of life in Pima County will be featured at the Pima County Pavilion. Festival attendees can grab some shade under our tent and learn about the 55 miles of car-free paths under development on The Loop, the entertainment options available at Kino Sports Complex, and tips on how to save money (and the planet) at our Sustainability Corner.

Be sure to check the festival schedule for fun interactive displays at our stage, from cool bicycle tricks to dog training 101 to vintage fashion shows and demos from athletic personalities.

Cats don’t do as well with crowds and noise, so they won’t be coming, but anyone looking for a little feline friendship can head to the main shelter at 4000 N. Silverbell Road.

All adoptions will be discounted for the three-day event. No adoption will cost more than $50 – which includes vaccination, alterations, microchip and licensing. Some of our animals are pre-altered, which means they can go home the same day they are adopted.

Animal care staff and field officers will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.

Bicycle valet service will be available right next to the booth for those pedaling over to the festival.
