Pima County Attorney Barbara LaWall rescues shelter pup

Pima County Attorney Barbara LaWall had a big day Tuesday.
When she took the oath of office for her swearing-in ceremony at the Board of Supervisors hearing room, she claimed a unique position as the only woman in Arizona who has been elected to serve five terms as County Attorney.
She hadn’t anticipated finding an “absolutely adorable” dog being featured during Pause for Paws, which highlights one adoptable shelter dog at each regularly-scheduled Board of Supervisors meeting.
“It was a case of love at first sight,” LaWall said, noting she immediately knew Sadie, a 5-year-old Shih Tzu mix, would become an important member of the family. Sadie had been at the adoption center since Christmas Eve.
“I haven’t had a dog for more than a dozen years and have been wanting one so very much,” she said. She added Sadie not only commemorated her swearing-in, but is an early birthday present, since her birthday is Monday.
LaWall took a lunch break at Pima Animal Care Center’s adoption center at 4000 N. Silverbell to complete the necessary paperwork and left with her new sidekick, who even sat in on a few staff meetings in the afternoon.
