Pima County wins Distinguished Budget awardby Pima County News on Feb. 20, 2013, under Pima County, Southern Arizona, Tucson
For the 15th consecutive year, Pima County received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award by the Government Finance Officers Association.
“This award represents a significant achievement,” said Association spokesman Stephen Gauthier in a written statement. “It reflects a commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of government budgeting.”
Budget documents of winning entries are evaluated separately by three budget professionals with public sector budgeting experience. They are tasked with assessing how well the budget performs in four categories, including from a policy perspective, as a financial plan, as an operations guide and as a communications device.
“This award demands a showing of meticulous detail and accuracy, so we’re pleased that we’ve once again been able to reflect our commitment to accountability and transparency in budgeting through this independent review,” said Pima County Administrator Chuck Huckelberry. “Taxpayers can be assured we will continue to utilize best practices as we strive for ongoing excellence in budgeting.”
The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit professional association serving more than 17,500 government finance professionals in the nation. The Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
