Walmart donation helps fund spay-neuter services

by on Mar. 05, 2013, under Health, Pima Animal Care Center, Pima County, Southern Arizona, Tucson

Pima Animal Care Center would like to thank Walmart for supporting efforts to reduce the flow of homeless animals into the shelter.

To celebrate the grand opening of the newest Walmart Neighborhood Market at Ina and Thornydale roads, Walmart selected Pima Animal Care Center as one of several local organizations to share $7,000 in grants. The resulting $1,000 donation will be used to promote low-cost spaying and neutering of pets in Pima County, through a partnership with the Animal Welfare Alliance of Southern Arizona.

“I would like to thank Walmart for thinking of us among the many agencies doing important work in the community,” said Kim Janes, manager of Pima Animal Care Center. “Not only will the donation help struggling families get free spay-neuter services for their companion animals, but it ideally will help reduce the overall number of animals coming into our shelter and needing new homes.”
