Sundt Construction: It’s a (new, improved) walk in the park at Pima Animal Care Centerby Pima County News on Oct. 14, 2013, under Pima Animal Care Center, Pima County
But the dirt lot that links the shelter and park is less than ideal.
That’s about to change, thanks to Sundt Construction.
Every Sundt project team selects a project to give back to the community that has employed them. The Sundt team that is working on the Downtown Courts Complex selected Pima Animal Care for this year’s effort.
On Oct. 18, Sundt employees will cut a ramp into the hill leading to the park, creating a more subtle incline through the lot to increase safety and to meet compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The team will also address drainage, to ensure that rainwater doesn’t pond near the dog walking path.
Thanks, also, to contractor Creco Rental, which is donating the use of a tractor.
Frederick F. Friedl, an employee/owner of Sundt, said employees were happy to help. “The work that the volunteers do, day in and day out, to make life better for the dogs is really admirable,” said Friedl, whose dog, Max, was a shelter rescue himself before he took over the household. “We’re glad to support them in their work.”
Kim Janes, Manager of the Pima Animal Care Center, said Sundt’s assistance comes at an opportune time, with several holiday walks planned in the coming months. “Saving more pets is a community undertaking. In this case, this will be a difference we see every day and we are deeply grateful for the assistance.”
