Cat crowding: Big thank you to partners for mobilizing to help many find homes, but we still have far too manyby Pima County News on Oct. 15, 2013, under Pima Animal Care Center, Pima County, Southern Arizona, Tucson
With word out about severe overcrowding in the cat kennels, the community mobilized to assist. Ten ill cats that had been in danger of being euthanized were all rescued.
The challenge we face is that this weekend’s overcrowding is not an isolated occurrence.
On Monday, even as 32 cats left, another 22 cats came in.
We currently have more than 115 cats available for adoption.
Staff and volunteers are extremely grateful for the response the pets have received and encourage everyone, every day to make sure their pet is spayed or neutered. And adopt – not shop – when looking for pets.
To help make sure all of our cats have their best opportunity to find a home, adoption fees are waived for every cat over six months of age. Those pets will go home with vaccinations, microchips and spay or neuter surgery.
Come on over and see if one of our cats is your ideal match. We’re open from noon to 7 p.m. weekdays and from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. weekends.
