Summer World Tour

This week, elle Wine Country Restaurant ventures into region three on its annual summer wine tour, traveling to the South of France. The pairings for this region are the Seared Ahi Salad Nicoise paired with Grenache Cinsault Clairette (Tavel Rose), Prieure de Montezargues 2006, and Provencale Beef Stew with Bacon, Onions and Carrots paired with Grenache Syrah (Terrasses), Chateau Pesquie 2005.

This is the sixth year for the elle wine tour and it’s one of Tucson’s most affordable summer restaurant values. For only $22 per person, you enjoy two glasses of wine and two courses. The elle Wine Country Restaurant is located at 3048 E. Broadway Boulevard in midtown Tucson, just a few minutes from just about anywhere.

Wine for Brunch

Steve Bugyik whips ups an omelet in his kitchen with a view at Kief Joshua Winery, Elgin, AZ

Take a Sunday drive to Kief Joshua Vineyards in Elgin and combine shopping at a farmers market with wine tasting and an omelet prepared by Steve Bugyik in his outdoor “kitchen with a view.” For info on the vineyard and directions go to the Kief Joshua Vineyards website. And don’t forget to try those awesome Kief Joshua Vineyard wines while you’re waiting (I love the Cab Franc).

Jazz, Blues & Wine Tasting

Double your fun — kick back to the smooth jazz and blues of Anna Warr and Mike Nichol on the patio of CataVinos Wine Shoppe & Tasting Room. This week’s BBQ wine tasting from 4-8pm features wines that go great with whatever you’re grilling. Anna takes the stage from 5-7pm and will definitely mesmerize you with her soulful sound. CataVinos is located at 3063 N Alvernon Way, just one block south of Ft. Lowell.

If you’re having a wine event, drop me an e-mail at pourmesomegrapes@gmail.com … I’ll make this a regular Friday Pour Me Some Grapes blog posting.

There’s nothing like a custom-made omelet out in the open with a glass of one of Kief Joshua’s best wines. I prefer his Cabernet Franc …
