Wild About Wines to Aid Animals Affected by Southern Colorado Wildfire
by Bonnie Lewis on Jun. 29, 2012, under Wine GeneralWildfires injure and displace animals as well as humans. Tucsonans Beth Holick and Yvonne Foucher, owner of CataVinos Wine Shoppe & Tasting Room, have joined forces to do something to help those critters at Wild About Wine on Sunday, July 8, 2012, 2:00pm-5:00pm. This will replicate last year’s benefit that aided animals affected by the Monument Fire in southern Arizona. This year’s event will assist the animals displaced by the out-of-control Southern Colorado wildfires where there have been tens of thousands of evacuees in the Colorado Springs, Colo., area and hundreds of homes that have been lost to the out-of-control wildfire there.
Holick said, “It just breaks my heart to see all the fire destruction by Mother Nature. I have a few friends who live in Colorado and one who was just evacuated from Colorado Springs. The pictures are horrific and I was feeling so helpless; this is my way of getting something done for them in this small way.”
Proceeds from the event will benefit two agencies and/or clinics who work with animals in the Colorado fire area. Half of each event fee of $20 per person will be contributed to the cause. Additional donations are encouraged; checks should be made to: Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.
Head out for a relaxed Sunday afternoon of sipping your favorite beverage from the vine and help benefit those critters in need. Holick hopes we don’t need to make this an annual event. Can’t we do something about that rain? (She threatens a group rain dance in the parking lot….)
Cheers!
